SF - The Huntington - special rate!
 

For those traveling to San Francisco, just thought you may want to know that The Huntington is having a promotional special for a Deluxe room at a discounted rate (on-line). It works out to be less than what we were finding for the Hotel Monaco. <BR>We've never stayed there, but have heard fabulous things. We're very excited & looking forward to being on the top of Nob Hill. <BR> <BR>Any recommendations for morning cappaccino places or restaurants near by?

Restaurants on Nob Hill are quite expensive and usually located in the major hotels. There is the Four Nobs, but don't think the food is outstanding. Suggest you walk or take the California St. cable car to Chinatown to the Great Eastern or down to the Financial District. Lots of good places near there--do a search here--there was a similar question not long ago. For cappucino, go into North Beach to any of the small cafes there. The most popular is Cafe Trieste. The Huntington is good, but not the best SF has to offer. But, if you've gotten a good rate, go for it.

Hi Erica, <BR>I was lucky enough to be in SF on business, and everything was booked except the Westin St Francis. I don't know if this is the best San Francisco has to offer, but I would guess its close. I thought it was a wonderful hotel. <BR> <BR>I ate one night at Scala Bistro, which is close to Union Square, but not far from the top of Nob Hill. I thought the food was very good, particularly pasta with a duck bolognese sauce. Yum!

Scala's has become one of our old stand-by's while passing through SF, we've never been disappointed! They're also more than happy to cater to the theater crowd. We've stopped in on our way to the theater, let them know what what show we were seeing & they had our table ready when we let out.

I personally would probably vote for the St. Francis, but many would disagree. To me it just means San Francisco. There are many wonderful smaller hotels. Also super is the Ritz Carlton. But, in the end the perfect hotel is the one which satisfies you and makes your trip enjoyable.
