SF hotel near Moscone Center
hello dear Fodorites, I'm helping someone book a trip to San Francisco next month. Any ideas about hotels (under $150/night) walking distance to Moscone Center. I'm looking at Andrews Hotel because I've stayed there before myself and they are running a very cheap internet special, but it's about 8 blocks away. TIA, suze

DebitNM, a Fodorite, stays at Mosser, it's on 4th @ Market. If you search her name and San Francisco, hopefully you can find her report(s)

Thanks for the suggestion, yes the Mosser looks great & I remembered the name from reading favorably here on Fodor's, unfortuantely rates are $189+tax which is a bit above budget. Otherwise looks perfect.

When is your friend coming, because that rate sounds VERY high for the Mosser (I wonder if there's a big convention or something).
|
Is your friend comfortable with bidding on Priceline? Priceline has a specific SOMA/Moscone Center zone, which is about 4 blocks x 4 blocks. The reported bids for SOMA/Moscone were around $80ish for a 4*.

dates are last few days April, first few days May. I think there may be something going on sinces I'm finding no availabliltiy thru hotel websites like Expedia and hotels.com for several places. That rates for Mosser is off their own website.
No, sorry don't think Priceline will work in this situation. But I have found a good deal at Andrews, just double-checking if I might be missing other good choices in the general neighborhood. Thanks all! |
The American Institute of Architects is at Moscone. I have no idea how many strong that is.

Have you checked the specials showing on travelzoo.com to see if they work with your friend's dates? The Intercontinental, Palomar and Westin St. Francis are all running specials. The Intercontinental would be the closest of those to the Moscone Center, but the Union Square Hotels aren't a bad walk.

Thanks for the ideas. Yup it's for the AIA convention. It's a LOT of architects, that's for sure, but probably not a big enough convention to sell out an entire city or anything (lol)!
Again, thanks for the help. |
Last March the hotel rates were sky high due to a big medical conference. I booked a not-so-great hotel and then the week before the rates at my favorite hotel dropped in half. As soon as the convention's room block deadline passes, rates may go down for the unbooked rooms. Same thing happened in Atlanta this March. The week before the conference there were rooms at the host hotel at almost half off.
