SF Giants Game
I will be visting SF with my 10 and 11 year olds in Aug. What is the best way to purchase reasonably priced tickets to a SF Giants game? Thanks for your insights.

You should start with the Giants official site. Those are dates for Rockies games and there should be some tix available at least for the Friday night game, the day game will be harder. If you don't like what is available, go to StubHub (Giants tix holders sell their tix back on this site). There will be more options on StubHub, but they are typically over the tix face value.
BTW Fridays are Orange Fridays and the Giants and the fans wear orange--they are a lot of fun. But the day game may be more fun for the kids. |
The Giants website mostly links to mlb.com and has links to stubhub.
Try www.stubhub.com or http://seatgeek.com/search?search=sf+giants You can often find prices cheaper than the list price. Be also aware that the Giants use what they call dynamic pricing. The seat price varies, depending on the demand. There would be more demand for Dodgers tickets than Rockies tickets, mainly due to the rivalry and the pennant race. Take SF Muni to the game. http://www.sfmta.com/cms/home/sfmta.php Have the kids get some garlic fries. If it's within your budget, get a club level seat. I think they're the best in the house. http://www.sfgiantsseatingchart.com/ |
You can spend the dough for a club level seat - or just get as inexpenswive of a seat as you can - as IMO - there really aren't any bad seats in the "new" park.
And garlic fries are killer at a ballpark. :) |
Home dates in August
http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/s...lendar=DEFAULT Aug 10-12 vs the Rockies Aug 13-15 vs the Nationals Aug 23-26 vs the braves While the "official" site 's prices are astronomical, the official resale site, www.stubhub.com has many more pricing choices and is sanctioned by the Giants so you don't have to worry about counterfeiters. Nationals tix are the cheapest of the 3 on that site. http://www.stubhub.com/san-francisco-giants-tickets/ |
Get good seats - we have season tickets and have also sat in many other locations in the park. I always feel very disconnected from the going-on when I sit outside the baselines (although the outfield bleachers can be fun)

Agree that the infield locations are the best as for being closest to the action, etc - but they are usually held by season ticket holders and cost more. If you are not a real baseball fan - IMO - anywhere in the park will do for the experience.
