SF Fodors Get Together

Message: A chance remark on another thread...a few enthusiastic posts...suddenly I seem to be organizing an SF-area Fodorite Fest. We have a central location in SF and about 6 people so far. A date in Sept or Oct will be decided on by group consensus.

If you want to attend, email me at my hotmail account and I will put you into the FODORSGTG group. Please include at least part of your real name, your fodors name, your email address, and the area you live in.

This should be fun!!

WAAAAaaaa! Marylyn, I can't come. Will you show me pictures?

Marilyn Aug 27th, 2003 04:04 PM

And a trip report, CC! There has to be a trip report!

TxTravelPro Aug 27th, 2003 06:07 PM

Bummer... I was just there and would go in a minute.
How about Dallas?
Anyone game for a happy hour on Greenville Ave?

Seamus Aug 27th, 2003 08:32 PM

If it works out to be Sept 23 or 25 I can do it, and would love it!

buckeyemom Aug 28th, 2003 06:03 AM

Ellen-I am with you on the Midwest. :-)

Kal Aug 28th, 2003 06:14 AM

Marilyn,
I'll be bringing over some Valley heat.((#)).
Sept and Oct are busy months but we'll try to make it work.
I'll shoot you a line.
Kal

Hi, Marilyn!

Thanks very much for taking on this big job of getting everyone in the Bay Area together!

Please count me in! We are currently planning several small trips, my DW and I are avid walkers and hikers. If you choose an open date, we would very much like to come!

Thanks again!

Marilyn Aug 28th, 2003 08:31 AM

jason888, Kal, Seamus, and anyone else interested, please do send me a direct email at my hotmail account, [email protected]
giving me your email address, at least part of your real name, fodors name. It's enough work without having to comb through these posts searching for interested parties!

Marilyn Aug 28th, 2003 01:45 PM

topping for a few more days for anyone interested -- join us!

Kal Aug 28th, 2003 04:35 PM

Ms Marilyn, You've got ((E))!

I'm getting my bells polished so I can show up with them on!
Yes. I said "bells". ;)

Marilyn Aug 28th, 2003 04:43 PM

Kal, I think I got that mail and now YOU'VE got mail!

Kal Aug 28th, 2003 04:57 PM

Mucho Mahalos. Hope we can pull this off. I missed the Kavey SF GTG a few years back. Maybe Betsy will get hammered again and do the Greek Table Dance like I heard she did last time?
=-O

MelissaHI Aug 28th, 2003 05:14 PM

Waaaaahhhhh I'm so bummed to be missing this by a hair!

Kal Aug 28th, 2003 05:24 PM

Mels,
At least you HAVE hair! :-P

Marilyn Aug 28th, 2003 05:26 PM

The dates are a nightmare. No matter when we schedule it, SOMEONE won't be able to make it! I am just winging it here, and figuring we'll do it again and maybe those of you who can't make this one will make the next. :-((

Betsy Aug 28th, 2003 07:07 PM

You been hitting the sauce tonight, Kal? It was an ITALIAN restaurant, for Pete's sake, and all behaved with decorum.

FainaAgain Aug 29th, 2003 10:43 AM

HA ha, I found this post!!! I was sick... off work for 2 days... I will e-mail of course... and now topping for others to see and reply.

Kal Aug 29th, 2003 12:16 PM

Ms Bets, Italian? Oh...a "sleep with the fish" dance maybe? :-?

I like a "little Italian" from time to time. :-d

FainaAgain Aug 29th, 2003 12:40 PM

Kal you lost me somewhere between bells polishing and sleeping with fishes... Can fishes hear the bells ringing?

Or are you getting ready for bell ringing competition? In this case what the fishes have to do with it?

Or God forbid Mrs Kal sent you to sleep with fishes :)

Kal Aug 29th, 2003 12:59 PM

F2,
No, but due to the last few cool nights while standing around outside in shorts and t-shirt looking at Mars, it appears I'm beginning to store my nuts for the Winter!!! :-"

Betsy Aug 29th, 2003 02:00 PM

Faina, Kal's obviously still feeling the residual effects of the drugs administered during his recent knee surgery. Either that or he's gone completely wacko. It's OK, Kal--we still love ya!

artlover Aug 29th, 2003 02:28 PM

Marilyn,
Has a final date been decided yet? If so, what is it? I'm hoping we can make it, but if not, maybe this will give me the incentive to organize a Seattle area get together.
Best wishes,
Paula

FainaAgain Aug 29th, 2003 02:31 PM

Betsy, it's the heat - see his yesterday's post at 10.14.

Marilyn Aug 29th, 2003 08:54 PM

TTT

PamSF Aug 30th, 2003 12:12 AM

Depending on the date..I'd like to try and make it! We're off for 11 days in the Pacific NW the second half of September..personally, I find October in SF to be the finest month of all.Where is the "central"location?

Kal darling~you've been staring at mars
amidst the heat..it's not cold enough for the nuts to hit storage. Grey Davis is still Governor, they've not yet found the weapons of mass destruction and the EPA has gone to hell in a handbasket. Tomorrow is the Old Vine Zin tasting. Let us raise our glasses to eating, drinking and being merry!(I'll let you know the line up of winners soon after).

PamSF Aug 30th, 2003 12:14 AM

or is that making Mary?

Marilyn Aug 30th, 2003 08:54 AM

PamSF, email me directly so I can put you on the list for the GTG. It is likely to be in Oct. Central location = SF Marina. By the way all, we now have about 25 people!

margot55 Aug 30th, 2003 09:56 AM

:`( Aw, geez, you guys, I'm so jealous of you SF'ers as here I sit, way out here on the other coast!!!((U)) Hmmm...:-? ((I)) maybe you could hook up a live closed circuit TV feed so I can vicariously be a part of it???((B))((D));)

Marilyn Aug 30th, 2003 10:11 AM

margot, somewhere on another thread a suggestion was made for a NYC GT. If someone just jumps in as I did, it's not difficult! If you have it in late Oct or early Nov, I will be in NYC and delighted to attend!

MelissaHI Aug 30th, 2003 12:01 PM

If the GTG goes well and you decide to do another, I'll be in SF at the end of Oct! Come cheer me on in the Golden Gate/Presidio 10 mile run!

Kal Sep 1st, 2003 08:07 AM

"Run Melissa, Run"!!!!
We'll try and be there to cheer on my second favorite runner!

Bets and F2, WHO? ME? >:D<

Margot-Don't worry about SF, sweetie...Just make sure NYC is all cleaned up for May's "half century" celebration!
:)>-
