valeriesgallery: Thanks for mentioning cash only. Ok if I pre-order the salt/pepper pig knuckles? Looking forward to meeting you!
easytraveler: Which fish dish should we pre-order? And thank you for being the driver, remember I'm bring a car and if you drive your smaller one, I can drive Faina and myself. trippinkpj: Hope you can make it! |
ISeeYouToo: Thanks for the good wishes! I didn't realize Melissa had such a foot fetish! Maybe the rest of us should bring a fetish or two, just to make this a well-rounded gathering!
Faina: That bottle of bastardo is so large, it cannot be sipped. It must be slugged! :) Last night we had some Sokol Blosser 2001 Pinot Noir with steak for dinner. I had bought that in Oregon a couple of years ago and was saving it. Darn thing gave me such a headache, it's still here today! (Which is why I keep saying that Oregon has a ways to go before its wines can match the worst of Napa-Sonoma! Prejudiced, aren't I?) Shanghainese: You're back! So thankful you will be helping Melissa with her knuckles! :) The carp dishes are: Roasted Carp with Green Onions Carp Fish and Turnip Soup both are $12.95. There's also a Vegetarian Goose which I'm certain Faina will enjoy. Patricia Untermann wrote about another vegetarian dish: Bean Curd Puff (Kao Fu) which she enjoyed immensely. There's also a bunch of hot vegetarian dishes. Wish I could post the menu for all to see! Let me work on that! trippin: I'm going to check my email now. Hope there's something from you! |
easytraveler: could you direct me to the Untermann review, please?
|
Shanghainese: sho'nuff! :)
http://www.examiner.com/a-657780~Wor...hai_House.html If this link doesn't work, try getting into the Examiner website, click on San Francisco, click on Entertainment. I've just spent the last hour reading her reviews and can't wait to try some of those other SF restaurants! |
Here, I shortened the link:
http://tinyurl.com/2vuo5g It sounds just wonderful! I love shredded jellyfish, too. I once had it mixed in with Chinese chicken salad for a new twist on texture. yummy! |
"Very drunken chicken, vegetarian goose, juicy hunks of wheat gluten, Fried tofu and glass" - copied from that article! I'm sure I'll have a lot to report :))
|
Faina! Will you be the drunken chicken, or the vegetarian goose? I feel a new nickname for you coming on....
|
Thanks! easytraveler and Mels, my mouth is watering.
Faina: You can't eat glass ..., your nickname now is glass noodles, tre chic. Mels: My mom mixes jellyfish with chicken since chicken was cheaper! |
I don't need no name-calling :((
I'll be vegetarian chicken if Kal becomes drunken goose :)) |
|
"fried tofu and glass"
OK, anyone having any problems with eating "glass [noodles]", or a vegetable running around pretending to be a goose or have any other dietary restraints had better speak up now! |
Just on time, taking off in 20 minutes :)
Anything vegetarian will do for me. Any drinks - alcohol or not. Are you going to order in advance or we'll see the menu first, or how will it work out? |
Hey, sorry it took me so long to get back this post. As you can see, yes it was the examiner. I would "love" to get the pigs feet, but doubt that I'd eat it jellied. (if I do, you can't tell anyone. It just doesn't sound right :)
I am going to be flying space available, since I work in the airlines. Might make a day or two of it. It will be fun and silly. After I write this, I have to take some time to read what you all wrote. These posts can be hilarious and dizzy-ing to keep up with!! |
Faina: We'll only pre-order the pig knuckles and the fish/carp since it's not available the same day. Everything else we can order when we get there.
Have a great trip! |
Valeriesgallery: Glad you're back! Certainly hope you can catch a ride, just tell one of the passengers they've been bumped off because of an emergency on your part! :) Well, it'll be halfway true, You definitely need a knuckles fix and can't wait!
Shanghainese: do you have a choice of the two pre order fish dishes? |
Here's the menu. I can't wait for my niece's boy friend to show. Besides, the amount of time he has to explain how to do this will be equal to the time it'll take for me to type up the menu. So, here goes!

You know, Chinese menus are a constant source of entertainment. Pair it with the stereotypical sassy Chinese waitress and you got yourself a real experience!
#26: So is there an un-delicious version? ;) |
easytraveler: I thought I had a lot of time on my hands!! You've got me beat.
|
Or #27: "Drunken chicken (half)"
Are we getting half of a wholly drunk chicken or a whole chicken that's only half drunk? :) |
easytraveler: You typed the entire menu?! Wow, thanks so much, do you ever sleep?
