"sex in the city" trip for the girls!
Hi! I'm going to New York the third weekend in February with 3 of my girlfriends. We are all 35 and looking to enjoy this city. Where should we stay? We should eat? Where should we play? We are open for anything! Thanks.

well, you obviously need to do the Sex and the City walking tour.
Seriously, if you have a group of girlfriends and liked the show, it's fun - touristy, but fun.
Stay in midtown (check out priceline - can't really go wrong). Go see a show (Avenue Q would be my rec). Shop til you drop up 5th Ave. and in SoHo. Take the Circle Line cruise (the 1/2 island one, not the full island one).
Have dessert at Serendipity. Eat lunch in Little Italy at Positano's. Have fun!!

Hotel rates in Feb should be low - I would start looking at the hotels themselves before Priceline. (And in any case with Priceline you will have to book 2 rooms - since the rooms often have only 1 queen bed - not often that easy to get at the same hotel).
If you look at affinia.com you'll see a group of moderately priced hotels with generally good reviews that are all suite - have a variety of room and bed configurations so all 4 can share a suite if you want.
If you're looking for more trendy check the posts on hotels in Chelsea and/or SoHo. Much better/more interesting and not so expensive restauants and shops that you don;t find at every mall - as well as many more interesting clubs and bars.

If you want to go to Aidan and Steve's bar "Scout", it's real life location is O'Nieal's, on Grand Street and Centre Market Square at the very bottom of Soho. It's a GREAT spot to have dinner, and the bar has a lot of history. Very upscale bar food, and it's all yummy.

Just to elaborate on the above, I also I think If you're looking for a Sex in the City type vacation I wouldn't stay in midtown. Look at the Soho Grand, Gansevoort, etc.
Specific shopping biggies are Bloomingdales, Barney's, Saks, etc. Downtown concentrate on Spring and Prince between 6th/Broadway street
Don't miss H&M, - best for cheap current duds
My favorites eating wise are Kin Khao (good Thai), Yama on Carmine (sushi), Pastis (french), Buddakan, Dos Caminos, Aquagrill, Bubby's, etc. All of these restaurants require you to call in for a reservation well in advance.
I always take my 30 something friends to the Comedy Cellar on Bleecker. You might also want to check around and see if there are any concerts happening at the time that you'd like to see.
Hope this helps.

You've gotten good advice, especially from jodeenyc. Since there are 4 of you, it really depends on your budget and whether you all want to stay in 1 room or split and stay in 2 (with 2 bathrooms). I agree it would be cooler to stay south of midtown either in Chelsea, the village, Soho, lower east side etc. BUT if you all want to stay in 1 room, your best bet is a suite in an apt/hotel and most of those are midtown.
hipguide.com has lists for the in everything and they're surprisingly accurate (imo). Given all the good transportation, you can really stay anywhere. A lot of the clubs are in Chelsea but the hotel options there are somewhat limited. (Hampton Inn Chelsea, Four Points Sheraton Chelsea, the Maritime with tiny rooms). If $$ is no object, the W Union Square would be a good location. If $$ is an issue, the Affinia Manhattan is not that far from Chelsea and has large suites. affinia.com All the Affinia hotels are good.
