Seward to Anchorage transfer?

We are arriving in Seward on a cruise early in the morning, and flying out of Anchorage late at night. We want to stay in Seward for a few hours to hike to Exit Glacier, but we also want to get a taste of Anchorage. Do you know any way to get to Anchorage that leaves Seward sometime in the middle of the day? Are there stops along the way that we shouldn't miss?

Rent a car. Hertz is the only game in town. The drive along Turnagain Arm between Portage and Anchorage is one of the most beautiful in North America.

Are you flying to Barrow late at night? If so, on what airline? Confused.

Gardyloo is right about a car.

There are tons of stops along the way. If it's a nice day, then the 2 stops/activities I would recommend to try and get in would be an easy hike into Byron Glacier and a drive up to the Glen Alps trailhead.

Byron Glacier is an easy walk/hike into a beautiful mountain valley (see: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/chuga...=6606&actid=50)

At the Glen Alps trailhead there are great views of Anchorage, the arms, and surrounding mountains. Parking is $5 if you stay longer than 30 minutes. (see: http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/aspunits...h/glenalps.htm)

Here's a google map link to the areas: http://goo.gl/maps/fBCqU
