Seward B&B Lodging
 

I've got almost all of my lodging figured out for my Alaska trip, but still need a couple of nights in Seward. I've seen lots of recommendations for the Edgewater and Windsong, but are looking something smaller. Maybe either a B&B or small lodge.

Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Ballaine House on Third Street, midway between downtown and the small boat harbor. It was $100 per double room, including all taxes. My trip report is a few links down for more info.

I stayed at the Harborview Inn and it was just perfect for me. Good location and nice clean rooms.

Depending, a big bargain is Morning Calm B&B. :)

We stayed at Angel's Rest at Lowell Point in Seward. I will cover this in my trip report very soon, but essentially it's fantastic. We stayed at the Gate House, which shares a million dollar view with their other waterfront cabin, the Wing. They have one other cabin in the woods, which I can't say anything about since I never saw it. Lowell Point is a bit annoying to get to - the road is unpaved and bumpy - but when we stepped into the cabin and saw the view, we almost fell over. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Seward area.

Birder, We're thinking of renting an RV, because accomodations looked so/so. Where you stayed looked wonderful...would it sleep 3? Can't wait for your trip report!

We've just returned from a wonderful trip of 17 days around Alaska. I will post a trip report in a day or two. However, I will report that we would never stay in Miller's Landing again, particularly with any of Angel's Rest properties. The woman was not only unfriendly when we called her upon our arrival, but the cabin we stayed in, The Hobbit Loft, was very misrepresented. More in my report,however, I caution people to look closely at anything in Miller's Landing.

chelsea, I will be honest, when we first looked at Angel's Rest, I recoiled when I saw the photos of the Hobbit's Loft since it looked absolutely tiny with slanting ceilings ... I'm wondering what you thought was misrepresented? We absolutely loved Lowell Point (is that what you meant by Miller's Landing ... Miller's Landing is just one lodging/rental place on Lowell Point), walking on the beach in the morning and at night, the sea birds, hearing the waves as we went to sleep.... I would definitely recommend Angel's Rest Gatehouse cabin to anyone, a beautiful luxury cabin right on the water. But I do agree that the Angel's Rest owner is not the most customer-focused -- we had a hard time getting a hold of them when we were there for extra blankets.

We just returned as well... I will heartily recommend Soo's B&B in Seward. Soo is an excellent host. The house is very nice inside, the rooms comfortable and the breakfasts hearty. The location is good... about half way between the better restaurants (Chinooks and Ray's) and the Sea Life Center. She also has discount tickets to some of the local attractions.

We also just returned from our Alaska trip, and also had the pleasure staying at Soo's. I highly recommend this beautiful house. She has great breakfasts too!
