Seward, Alaska Questions

Hello,
I am going to Alaska at the end of this month. At one point we will drive from Anchorage to Seward in the morning and take one of the 11:30am Kenai Fjords day cruises. We'll spend the night in Seward. The next day we'll go to the Sea Life Center, then to Exit Glacier, then drive back up to Anchorage. Just a few questions that I haven't been able to find clear answers on:

1. I understand the drive from Anchorage to Seward takes approximately 3 hours. Is this correct? Just want to be sure we don't miss the cruise!

2. Approximately how much time does it take to see the Sea Life Center...I know this depends on one's interest in the subject matter, but just looking for a ballpark figure-is it a 1/2 day or just an hour or two worth of things to see/do?

3. Approximately how much time does it take to drive/hike to Exit Glacier. Just want to estimate our arrival time back in Anchorage that evening.

Thanks!

I just came back, so let me try and answer. I did the drive from Seward to Anchorage in about 2:50 minutes or so. Remember it's high season, so you can get a lot of RVs on the road. There are passing lanes on and off all the way, but keep in mind traffic and weather as it can be raining. I was at the Sea Life Center for a few hours. It's not huge, but it depends on how much time you spend on the exhibits. The drive is Exit Glacier is just a short drive from Seward. I believe the road is about 12-14 miles. The road is completely paved now and it's a lovely ride back there. It doesn't take long to walk back to the glacier, but your time there all depends on whether you hike on any of the side trails. Enjoy your trip. You will love Alaska.

sorry for my typo, I meant the road "to" Exit Glacier.

We went last year and I agree with Deborh. It took us about 2 1/2 at the sea life center and 3 hours at exit glacier just outside of seward. But the Glacier time depends on how much of a hike you want to do.

Have fun. Alaska was beautiful.

Thanks Deborah and KarenL! That gives me a much better idea of how to plan my days. I am getting so excited about the trip--my first to Alaska! I will be sure to post a report back here when I return!

Last year was my first time too and we only got to tour the Kenai Pen. But it was great. I hope to go back again soon and see some more of the great state. It was a blast. I'm sure you'll have one too.

Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it. We will also get to go to Denali this trip. I will probably have more questions in a few days!

If you can, sign up for the behind the scenes tour of the SeaLife Center; we really enjoyed it.

Thanks Abram....I think I'll try to do that. That sounds like fun!

You can get a really good look at Exit Glacier in an hour.
