Several day stay near West Islip, NY
 

Can anyone recommend a nearby town for a short stay near West Islip? I'd like to find something on VRBO. Was looking at Fire Island, but the logistics not good. Hoping to avoid a hotel stay. I'll be visiting family member in hospital part of the day, but would like to avoid sitting in a hotel room the other hours of the day. I'm from the East End originally, and not familiar with this part of LI. Thanks!

What do you want to do when not visiting your family member in the hospital besides stay in the house?

If your goal is to just stay in a rental home why not look for a place in West Islip?

Towns surrounding West Slip include Amityville, Lindenhurst, Babylon, Bay Shore, Islip, East Islip, Farmingdale, Wyandanch, Deer Park and Brentwood. Obviously, the further you get from West Islip the longer it will take you to travel between the rental home and the hospital.

Hint: Use Google Maps or Mapquest to research the proximity of the various towns to West Islip.

Babylon village is a real town with two main streets of shops and lots of restaurants for the time when you will not be at Good Samaritan Hospital. Bay Shore similarly has had a rebirth and now features many shops, restaurants, and such. Good Sam is in West Islip, midway between Babylon and Bay Shore, about a 10-minute drive from either town. Babylon may be a bit nicer, but it really depends on the actual location of the BnB.
