Sequoia NP in 1-2 days

What should we do in/around Sequoia with a time span of one to two days? What are good in-park activities? We will be there one week from today. Thanks.

First of all, go to www.nps.gov/seki

Walk around Giant Grove. Hike up to Moro Rock (but NOT just before a storm!). Drive into Kings Canyon, then take a hike at Road's End. Attend a Ranger talk.

Go to the cavern or cave hike. Very enjoyable.

We were just there last week for two days. We stayed at the Wuksachi Lodge in the park so this cut down on necessary drive time into the park each day. Nice rooms - quiet (at this time of year) and the rate was $165 (I think) for a deluxe room, less for a standard. Food in dining room was average. We went to see the General Sherman tree and took the 1-2 hour trail walk that starts at the tree (the Congress Trail, I think). There are a number of trails of varying length and difficulty throught the park - make sure you spend time on at least one. We went to Morro Rock and went up to its peak - gives you a vast view of the Sierras to the east and the San Joaquin valley and mountains to the west. Then went into Kings Canyon and visited Grant's Grove. We'd hoped to see wildflowers in bloom in the many meadows throughout the park but it was a litte early - you may have better luck. At night,we did a lot of reading on comfortable chairs in the lobby. It's easy to spend two days there - the other suggestions above are well-taken. BE ADVISED - there is road construction going on from the Route 198 entrance (the road from Hanford) to about three miles into the park - traffic is stopped for extended periods each day - so if you're coming in that way, you should be at the entrance to the park by about twenty minutes before the hour to minimize delays. If you get there later, expect a delay of up to an hour.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Is there an alternate route to 198 into the Park? Enjoy the holiday today.

Yes - route 180 east from Fresno takes you into Kings Canyon, near Grant's Grove - turn south onto Route 180 into Sequoia. You'll avoid construction altogether.

I meant to say turn south onto Route 198 into Sequoia(not 180) - sorry.
