sequoia in Georgtown/DC

Has anyone been out to Sequoia? Is reservations needed all the time?? What is attire and dress there? Thanks!

The food and the view of the Potomac are wonderful at Sequoia. Dress code is casual. Definitely make reservations.

The view is wonderful, the food is not. Sequoia gets by on its location, certainly not its food or service. Food is very average and overpriced.

Sequoia's fine for somewhere for drinks, given the view, but if you want a good meal, go away from the harbor area.

As for dress, "casual" is a fairly relative term. This is G-town casual, which doesn't mean your usual sightseeing t-shirt, shorts, and fanny pack. Casual meaning nice shirt, nice shorts or dress. This a "see and be seen" kinda crowd.

Calling the food and service mediocre is an insult to mediocre. But it is a beautiful spot.

Confirming the previous two posters - go for drinks outside to enjoy the view, eat somewhere else... Neyla in G'town has good food. Tons of options in Dupont Circle.

I just ate there last night b/c of a work function and would describe the food as average but the view excellant

Thanks for all the replies. I took my bf there last night for dinner. We arrived around 630 and sat outside. The view is great if you can get a nice table. The food is avg but kinda over priced (92.00$ bill). The service really sucked, the waiter rarely came around and I had to ask for bread, water, etc... My finger is still swollen after being bitten by a huge bee. I dont know which is worse, the bee sting or being crapped on by a bird like the lady next to us. There is lots of birds flying around, you cant see them but you can hear them. The experience was OK, it was a nice view on a beautiful cool evening in DC. ***FYI: we were dressed up nicely but I guess the attire outside is really casual, saw lots of jeans, shorts, tee shirts, etc...Sitting inside when we were leaving it is a lil more dressy. There was a private function so we werent able to sit inside w/ our reservation yet when we got there and sitting outside was available and it is first come, first serve outside.

MikeT, you're absolutely right. I was trying to be delicate.

bluestructure, you could have done a lot worse than $92 and a bee sting! Now you'll know to listen to us next time. Take him to 1789.

Great place for drinks since right on river, but go elsewhere for dinner. Very poor service the last time I was there, and judging from the above posters, that may not be unusual.

Yes I know, the place is very over rated but it was a last min post on here to see what kind of things to expect. By then, he had already made up his mind he wanted to go. I will say, I wont go back there again. It wasnt just our waiter that sucked, I noticed other people were frustrated as well with the service they were receiving. ah well, it was certainly an experience. thanks
