Sequim or Port Angeles?????
 

Has anyone stayed at the Toad Hall B&B in Sequim, or, the Domaine Madeleine B&B in Port Angeles?? Can anyone recommend Sequim over Port Angeles, or visa versa? <BR> <BR>

Haven't heard of Toad Hall (interesting name!), but Domaine Madeleine is lovely. However, it has changed owners in the last year or so since Madeleine and John (the original owners) moved to France. Dom. Mad. is actually outside of P.A. on the way toward Sequim, on a bluff overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. So long as you're in the countryside, I don't think which town you're near really matters. Presumably you're going to see the scenery in Olympic National Park, rather than really spend time in the towns? Neither is really a "destination" town in and of itself.

Sequim is a much smaller city than Port Angeles. It is alos much drier even though it is very close. There is a dry belt that goes through Sequim I believe that the annual precipitation in Sequim is only 16".

Dear Sheri and Bobby, <BR> <BR>Thankyou vey much for your replies. Yes, Sheri, we intend to spend the majority of our time viewing the scenery in Olympic National Park, rather than the towns. Sheri, <BR> <BR>Toad Hall has a prominent place in "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame, a classic children's book. Much of the book revolves around Toad's effort to regain his rightful place at Toad Hall after it's taken over by the weasels and stoats. <BR> <BR>I suspect that's where they got the name for the B&B. <BR> <BR>Don

Personally I would rather stay in Port Townsend when I am in this area but if I HAD to chose between Sequim and Port Angeles I would pick Sequim. P.A. is a big lumber type town...like Coos Bay Oregon only not as depressed.

Don, thanks for the clue about the Toad Hall name! I looked at their website, and it looks like you are correct (although, interestingly enough, it's an adults-only B&B!). I somehow missed "The Wind in the Willows" as a kid, although I loved books like "Watership Down". Guess I'd better remedy that! <BR> <BR>Lynn, I agree with you that Port Townsend is a cooler town than the other two; however, I don't think it makes as good a base for touring Olympic National Park, as it adds nearly an hour each way for day trips to places like Hurricane Ridge, Sol Duc, the Hoh, etc.
