September driving from Zion to Yosemite via Tioga pass
How long will it take to drive from Zion National Park to Yosemite with an overnight stop in Tonopah.
Two couples in 2 cars. We will have already driven from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon, Monument Valley Page ( Antelope canyon), spending one night in each spot. We want to drive the easiest way from Zion National Park to Yosemite Valley. Tioga Pass will be open. We are staying in Yosemite Village.
Definitely don't want to go via Las Vegas.
Thanks

Google Maps knows that Tioga Pass is closed for winter at the moment
so it vectors the route via different roads. I have Google Street Viewed most of the road and it looks OK. Various online mapping apps vary from 8 hours to 18 hours. That's why I need some responses from folks who have actually travelled this route.

Total of 566 miles or 10 hours. Zion to Tonopah via the ET highway (375) is 359 miles or about 6 hours.
Fill the gas tanks in Tonopah and top them off in Lee Vining.
After you turn off the Tioga Pass road onto the Big Oak Flat road you have about 17 miles to go to Yosemite Village.
(207 miles from Tonopah to Yosemite Village) Plan on slightly over 4 hours depending on the weather.
Are you brave enough to stay at the US's scariest motel?
It is the Clown Motel next to the old cemetery in the north end of Tonopah.

You people are great. Thanks. No Clown motels for me though. I do think Tonopah will be a bit creepy even without the Clown Motel. It looks like a movie set. Any other "must See" spots on this route?
