Senior Trip 2004

My friends and I are planning a Senior Trip for mid June. There are 9 of us, 17 and 18 year olds. We are trying to find a location with great beaches at a reasonable cost, as most of us are paying ourselves. We have considered the Florida, Hawaii, and the Carribean, but are not quite sure how not narrow that down. Any other ideas would be great. We live in Orange County, CA so are not really interested in the California beaches.

The biggest problem you all will face is finding a place that will rent to adults under 21 years of age.

The best deals are in Mexico.

I don't know if it's just me, (don't answer that) but I initally thought this was going to be a post about senior citizens wanted trip info!

Greetings from up the (soggy today) 405 in Santa Monica! Have you looked into going the Hostel route? Here's a website for Hostelling International USA:

I'm concerned that you may have trouble getting rooms at the usual hotels or motels due to your age. Hostels are also a real bargain compared to full-service joints.

Florida would be a good choice, as June is considered Low Season, i.e., hotel rates come down. The Hostel in Miami Beach is in the heart of South Beach, so the money you save on lodging can be spent on dinner, transportation, entertainment, etc.

I think you'll find more of the same beach-wise that you have in CA if you come to FL. A lot of seniors from FL go to Cancun in Mexico. I think if you reserve your room ahead of time with a credit card then you will be OK.

I'm laughing at this post after I clicked onto it. Living in Florida as long as I have, when I see "Senior trip" it means everybody has to be over 65.

What a bunch of oldies we are! I was sure it would be an Elderhostel age question!

Hi Hunnybzz04! My son went to the Grand Bahamas for his senior trip. It was with his youth group from church so it was totally supervised which made me feel good. He combined teaching Bible stories to the children there with some fun. They flew from LA to Florida and then took a cruise ship to the Grand Bahamas. It was a very memorable trip.

Whatever you decide I hope you have a great time and stay safe!! Happy Planning!! His girlfriend recently went to Maui for her senior trip with a girlfriend, accompanied by her mother. ***kim*** I would say Hawaii or the Carribean would be wonderful!!

I can't see how Hawaii would possibly be cost-effective for your group.

Also, you're gonna run into more problems than you think because of your age. I used to work for a large hotel and we always checked IDs to make sure guests were 21 when they checked in. This even included "prepaid" reservations! Fair or not, hotels shy away from underage reservations.

Funny thing Judy24.....I also thought this was speaking of the "over 50" senior group. Have lots of fun guys!

How is it you guys have money for trips like this? I remember needing all my money for college!

I thought the heading meant over 60 also!! Anyway, my daughter and seven of her girlfriends went to Ft Lauderdale for their senior trip. Her graduating class was over 500 and from her pictures, I think half of them were on that beach! Now that I think about it, I wonder how they all got into those hotels being that they were under 21.

The following is a list of companies with websites that specialize in senior class trips. I think they require an over 21 chaperone though.
