<BR>Has anyone else noticed that it has been 3 days since this was posted and "chocolate2" has not come back?
|
I noticed. Could we have scared chocolate2 off...?<BR><BR>Really, when you're heading to a city that proudly commits itself to the pursuit of gambling, why try to avoid it? Heck, even if you go to a show, you'll walk through a casino area at that venue.

I too thought this was a dire warning about Srs gambling. LOL And after watching Seniors who looked as if they barely had two nickels to rub together mindlessly stuffing two slots at a time on our last trip..felt it was a justifiable admonition. <BR><BR>I suspect this request has more to do with their mobility than aversion to gambling, but looking at chocolate2's other posts I wonder why she even made this one. It looks as if she was just there a couple of weeks ago...?

Chocolate2 has a bunch of other Vegas posts so I think it's a legit question. At Venetian, you can get to the front desk without going through the casino. You can get to the elevators from the parking garage. But I don't think you can get from the front desk to the elevators without going outside (i.e. parking garage). Venetian is a great hotel and the Canal Shoppes offer a non-casino attraction. I think they might be better off at a hotel where many of the visitors are not there to gamble and are there just for the attractions. I would consider Venetian, Caesar's, Bellagio and Paris to fall into this. I'm not saying that there's not a lot of gambling going on, just that a lot of people go there with no gambling intention which is not the case at Bally's, Harrah's, Monte Carlo, etc.

I have been following this thread since Tuesday, and I must say it has given me a great deal of enjoyment!!! Many chuckles have been enjoyed...Thanks for the laughter.
|
I checked out the other posts by chocolate2 and I get the impression he/she is writing a travel guide to Vegas.
|
Has anyone else noticed that chocolate2 has not contributed to this thread since she posed the original question? Hm....curious.
|
If you read all the other posts/questions by chocolate, she never posted a follow up either. Kinda "took the money and ran".

Like I said before, we probably scared him/her off. After all, the task presented was a bit ludicrous. Could you imagine posting on the Europe site:<BR><BR>" I am planning a trip for a senior couple to Italy. They want a nice hotel in the heart of Tuscany. By the way, they don't eat Italian food, so make sure there are no Italian restaurants nearby. A nearby Denny's, Takee-Outee or Panda Express would be best."

Oh yeah-- the title did promise some kind of horror story.<BR><BR>I think back on a business trip to Shreveport, LA, just after they legalized riverboat gambling. I got off the plane, and was bombarded with reminders that "We have Riverboat Gambling!" Once sufficiently numbed by the endless chant, I went to the casino, which was indeed on a riverboat. The sounds were familiar-- slots, video poker, roulette wheels, croupiers shouting, etc. The smoke hung much heavier in these casinos than even the sleaziest LV Downtown hotel (cuz people in the South SMOKE-- I know, I'm originally from there). And the average age of the gamers in the casino was Death. All the men were grizzled farmers in coveralls and baseball caps, and all the ladies had Dolly Parton bleached hair, denim cowgirl blouses and stretch pants. Everyone was gambling away their kids' inheritance (which I fully support, dammit!) and having a great time. I backed out, slowly, and went to my hotel to try to wash the smell of cigarette smoke out of my clothes and skin. It still hasn't come out.

Wow...you all are good detectives. I didn't even notice. I'm so used to people not following up or even popping back in to give a word of thanks, it doesn't even phase me anymore.<BR><BR>The title was funny though..I was expecting to read, "Senior Citizens are the target of a bizarre kidney theft ring while sitting at slot machines!" or something crazy.<BR><BR>Ah vell...<BR>snarla

After reading the majority of those replies to Chocolate2 question, I wouldn't blame her if she never showed up on the boards again. A simple question and he/she has been ridiculed, most of the posters have acted like Judge and Jury and decided she is guilty of a crime. It's a disgrace that the people who censor these boards allow it. All it does is put others off who may already feel a little silly about asking some questions. What does it matter to you if the parents don't want to gamble in Vegas, they may only want the Vegas experience of all the other things there are on offer - if anything I think its you people who are single minded. Leave people alone and stop bullying - if you can't give a helpful answer why bother at all?

In the last election Gore and Bush talked a lot about the sanctity of the social security funds. One of them was going to save it in a lock box, I believe, with the key kept securely on his person at all times.
After seeing Vegas in action, I've come to believe that the social security lock box is really the safe at Bally's. |
