Seneca Hotel
 

I have found a real good deal on the Seneca hotel. King Deluxe Room for about $90/nite. Can anyone give me any information about this hotel or is it even worth it?

Actually the Room is a King Deluxe Suite for $90 a nite and Sat. being $169 and Sun $49.

Haven't stayed there, but I can tell you that the location -- just off North Michigan Avenue -- is top-notch. I seem to recall reading some favorable reviews - not sure whether they were on this forum or elsewhere. Have you done a search here? See that is where I'm at, I know it is great location, but have heard both great and OMG! So I'm not sure which side to believe. So if anyone can give some feedback , please do.

It depends on what you want. My 2 teens like to stay in a suite there so we can spread out. The rooms really vary in size, but are usually large. It's older, with high ceilings and mahogany(sp?) furniture.Many of the rooms come with full kitchens, another feature we like. There's no lobby to speak of. The location is great, a block from WaterTower Place and the Museum of Contemporary Art. If you want upscale, shiny new with great services, it's the wrong place for you. We're pretty low key, want space and 2 tvs for the end of the day, so it works for us.

My brother and his wife are staying there later this week, so I can give you a report when they get back.

I got a mixed review, but overall not bad.

Positives: Location was excellent for walking around. It was comfortable and quiet at night.

Negatives: This hotel has been a residential building and some rooms appear to be undergoing conversion/renovation. There is construction ongoing in the hotel during the day. They had noise from above between 8:30 and 4. If you're not planning to be in your room during the day, probably not a big deal. Also, given the former building use, there is some variance from room to room and not everything was as advertised. For example, some booking sites indicate jetted/spa tubs, but their room did not have one. If you have specific needs/wants, it's probably best to confirm that with the hotel.

we stayed there in Oct. 2003, & LOVED it! (a group of 6 women), we had a suite, 2 large bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms (bathrooms were a good size too). (the 1 bedroom had a king size bed the other had 2 queens (or maybe it was doubles, not sure) (1/2 bath had washer/dryer, kitchen (w/dishwasher,, microwave)
dining area, & living room. It was great. Right across from the John Hancock Tower, great location to everything. We even walked to Navy Pier from there.
We had no complaints, & would definitely stay there again.
I can't think of any thing I would consider a negative

it is supposedly very nice and romantic! i'd book it unless you are partying here with a 21 yr old buddy!
