Completely different, although it is true that I usually get rained on in NYC and my one visit to SF I enjoyed some lovely sunshine. But I thought it was known for fog, not sun. None of the canyon-like feeling I get in Manhattan and much nicer public transport.

You got some learnin' to do ;) First of all if you want 'sunny' you'll visit in the Autumn. Summer can often be anything but sunny. Can you say pea soup? The views from any of the hills are world famous for a reason. Besides the beauty of the city's setting, SF is w/i a day trip of some of the most glorious scenery in the entire country (Coastal Redwoods, Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Point Reyes, several wine regions full of vineyards/wineries, plus lots more) |

What are the best walking routes to dodge dirty drug needles and crap on the sidewalk? Well it's not. Starting with the sunny part. You just keep repeating things that show you don't know anything about San Francisco. I don't think you are really looking for help or guidance. You just like to hear your own self I guess. |

starrs, do check your math. I have not been dismissive of any U.S. city for which I’ve written a report here: Charleston. I liked the city. I just did not love it the way I guess I was expected to, and concluded that we would perhaps return. Nashville. Rather enjoyed our 24 hours. Greenville. Rather enjoyed this weekend, too. Our last home leave (D.C. and Ann Arbor in 2018) was a big thumbs-up, too, except for the weather at DS's graduation. Digging into the archives, I ended my 2015 home leave trip with, “As always, I love NY! Until next time…” Since having returned to the U.S. we’ve had a long, amazing weekend on Virginia's Eastern Shore; and enjoyable weekends in Chattanooga and Asheville, too, along with a couple of fun day trips to Huntsville (USSRC and a side-stop at the quirky UBC in Scottsboro.) and Cherokee. None rose to the level of trip report, though. |

I heard/read/imagined that the The Alma Spreckels collection of Rodins at the Palace was the largest. Guess I heard wrong. It's in the 70s here today!! Stu Dudley |
