Self-Catering to Lunch at Philadelphia's Barnes Collection

Can we eat our own food at the Barnes Collection? I know we can bring it and keep it in the free lockers. But do they have an indoor or outdoor location to eat self-catered meals? Such as the rooms downstairs in the NY museums like Natural History?

I would call and ask, but as I recall, both the restaurant and the coffee bar are fairly small...not sure you would find a seat. You could eat outside on a nice day.

Whole Foods is right behind the Barnes.

You can buy prepared food here. There is a dining area at the front of the store with utensils, napkins, and a microwave.

Many people who work in the area of Logan Circle eat their lunch on the benches along the Ben Franklin Parkway (in front of the Barnes).

My recollection is that there is a sitting area downstairs between the lockers and the so-called food area (very limited selection, completely uninteresting). You probably could eat your own food there.

Michael,
I think you were at the old location. The new location in the city does not have lockers, and does allow handbags and such.

No. There is a coat room downstairs, which is what I meant.

Had an excellent trip to the Barnes--eye-poppingly wonderful collection, all new to me. Great tour with docent.
Pragmatic details:
There is a locker area near coat check, you can store foods in lockers if desired.
Whole Foods is right behind the Barnes, across the street.
Parking at the Barnes was very close, reasonably priced.
Restaurant in the Barnes is small, had excellent choices, nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Excellent meal.
Benches in front of the Barnes look comfortable, but may be lacking adequate shade for a hot day--will try to bring lunch and picnic on the benches next time.
