self catering cottages

For some years now we have been spending 7-10 days in a self catering cottage in the grounds of The Manor on Golden Pond Holderness NH This was ideal ...simple kitchen, fridge log fire, bath etc.but near the hotel for dinner if we wanted it. Unhappily the new owners have upgraded the cottage by removing the kitchen so we are forced to eat all meals in the hotel, which we do not want to do.I would be grateful if anyone can suggest another good northern New England hotel with a cottage that has a kitchen, a log fire and a telephone to sleep two available for end of September 2001.

Cecilia, I don't know if you are married to New Hampshire, but northern Vermont is beautiful. I'd recommend the WilloughVale Inn on Lake Willoughby in the Northeast Kingdom. I know they have cottages for rent right on the lake. I don't believe they have log fireplaces though, just gas ones.
