Seeking warm locale on a budget
Any suggestions for a warm long weekend destination on a budget? We're thinking 3 nights, 4 days.. The Caribbean seems a bit expensive now as it's high season... Beach preferable but not necessary - just warm temps.. Any tips?

Spirit and many others are offering great package deals right now. I would check those out!

I had the same issue and decided on New Orleans - our hotel has a pool and for $300, I got airfare and four nights hotel.

Florida would do nicely.

I would second New Orleans. Super good deals are to be had after Mardi Gras is over (after February 20th). Before that it will be a bit more.

If you're going soon, site59.com might be a good place to check for last minute deals. Then ofcourse it depends on where you're starting from. Do you know about Travelocity dream maps? Put in your departure city and see what airfares are from there (now) within a range you determine.

Where are you coming from as you can catch deals from and to different areas. We like the San Diego area but Florida and Padre Island Texas do pretty good.

It depends where you're starting from and when you are traveling... Caribbean or Mexico are both nice, and you can find package deals (look at a Budget Travel magazine).
Or maybe the southwest somewhere like Phoenix or Palms Springs? |
Site59.com offers weekend and e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d weekend packages (flight & hotel, flight & car, and some with all three) to many destinations. Some of the FL and CA options should be good for you. Perhaps even some of the lower-priced Caribbean ones too.
Departures offered are Wed.-Sat for returns the following Sun.-Tues. You can book from as little as three hours before takeoff to as much as 14 days. You should also check airfarewatchdog.com for low fare sales from your departure city. |
