Seeking recommendations
 

My friend and I have two stays in San Francisco: in mid August and again in early September (about 3 nights and then 4 nights respectively). I've checked out the hotels available on expedia and other websites and there are just so many good choices and well rated hotels I'm finding it hard to choose. The only problem with these websites is that they don't allow one to search by room type and we require twin beds. I'm interested in your recommendations for hotels in the 4 star category in the Union Square district.

This will be my first trip to San Francisco and the West Coast so I'd prefer to be centrally and comfortably located. Thanks in advance!

Most times you can request the double beds at check in... I would just pick the best price in the nicest hotel in Union Square and check in early... that would make it easy to shuffle rooms at the desk... high star/low price/early check-in ... good luck!

I don't think there are many hotels in San Francisco (if any) that actually have twin beds --- I think you should look for "two doubles" or "two queens" (as opposed to "one king"). All the hotel websites should give you that choice.

Right on Union Square, there are the Hyatt Union Square and the Westin St. Francis, a little up the street is the Monaco (a Kimpton hotel -- I love it), a JW Marriott, nearby (a few blocks from Union Square) there's a W, a Marriott, Four Seasons (all an easy walk from Union Square), etc. You have many choices.

I can't ever remember having a SF Hotel room with two twin beds either, two double or queens yes, as sf7307 said.

Italophile, after you decide on the hotel you want before booking with Exedia or whatever website you are going to reserve through you could the hotel direct (not their toll free reservation number) and ask them about their rooms and the bed situation. You might even want to mention the price you can obtain through the other websites as I have done that and hotels have offered the room at the same lower price. Not always but sometimes. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks all, I've managed to book two double bedded rooms. First 3 nights at Orchard in Bush St, last 3 nights at Omni in California St.
