seeking recommedations for us southeast beach honeymoon
My fiance' and I are researching wonderful places in the southern US to schedule a honeymoon for during the first two weeks of October. A warm beach with plush accomodations and excellent food, service and spa is desired. We would like to find a place that we can return to year after year. Any recommendations would be welcome!

Longboat Key, FL is a great choie for selusion and poshness, the same with Jekyll Island, GA. I have alway enjoyed Harbortown in Hilton Head but is ould be boring i fyou don't enjoy golf. for a honeymoon, I might try Seabrook Island in SC. which is about 5 miles from charleston. You could relax on beach and visit romanti historic places as well.

I think that Key West can be a terribly romantic spot for a honeymoon. It seems to fit what you want except for the fact you won't find any great beaches there. There are some great small hotels and B&Bs there as well as some large mainstream hotels on the ocean shore. IMO there is no place in the south with a better concentration of fine restaurants and the weather at that time should be great.

kate,
I love Myrtle Beach, but it is not what you are looking for (judging by your criteria), with the possible exception of Kingston Plantation (the closest thing Myrtle Beach has to a Hilton Head-style resort; see below).
Charleston is a very romantic city, but it is not on a beach.
Little Palm Island I have just read about, and it sounds great for the rich and/or famous.
Hilton Head does satisfy all of your criteria, and is a wonderful place. I must disagree with Robin--I think there is more to Hilton Head than golf (great restaurants, beautiful beach, boating, kayaking). Harbortown is not on the beach, but I would highly recommend Palmetto Dunes which is a very nice resort community with several oceanfront hotels.
