seeking recommedations for us southeast beach honeymoon

My fiance' and I are researching wonderful places in the southern US to schedule a honeymoon for during the first two weeks of October. A warm beach with plush accomodations and excellent food, service and spa is desired. We would like to find a place that we can return to year after year. Any recommendations would be welcome!

Longboat Key, FL is a great choie for selusion and poshness, the same with Jekyll Island, GA. I have alway enjoyed Harbortown in Hilton Head but is ould be boring i fyou don't enjoy golf. for a honeymoon, I might try Seabrook Island in SC. which is about 5 miles from charleston. You could relax on beach and visit romanti historic places as well.

Hi Kate, I would recommend Charleston, SC. I think it ia the most romantic city in the US!
I have not been, but alot of people like Amelia Island near Jacksonville. I don't know how far south you want to go, but I love the Naples area too.
Judy :-)

Amelia Island Plantation Florida -- beautiful beach and very plush accomodations with fantastic service! Tennis, golf, spa, pools!

I went to Myrtle Beach for my honeymoon in 91. It was nice but we went in May.

If money is no object, you should consider Little Palm Island, off the coast of the lower Florida keys. It's obscenely expensive...I think around $1000 a day, but it's definitely plush. As I recall, the web site is littlepalmisland.com

I think that Key West can be a terribly romantic spot for a honeymoon. It seems to fit what you want except for the fact you won't find any great beaches there. There are some great small hotels and B&Bs there as well as some large mainstream hotels on the ocean shore. IMO there is no place in the south with a better concentration of fine restaurants and the weather at that time should be great.

I'm with susan-LPI is amazing-the quintessential honeymoon spot. You can also go to Key West for a day which is very fun, or stay there in the Marquesa...

kate,

I love Myrtle Beach, but it is not what you are looking for (judging by your criteria), with the possible exception of Kingston Plantation (the closest thing Myrtle Beach has to a Hilton Head-style resort; see below).

Charleston is a very romantic city, but it is not on a beach.

Little Palm Island I have just read about, and it sounds great for the rich and/or famous.

Hilton Head does satisfy all of your criteria, and is a wonderful place. I must disagree with Robin--I think there is more to Hilton Head than golf (great restaurants, beautiful beach, boating, kayaking). Harbortown is not on the beach, but I would highly recommend Palmetto Dunes which is a very nice resort community with several oceanfront hotels.

My vote goes to Little Palm Island. It has everything your looking for. It is a tropical paradise. It is on the expensive side, but this is your honeymoom and believe me, you will never forget LPI. Indulge!
