Seeking Lake Housing Recommendations anywhere in Central US

You're missing out on the incredible experience of being part of the lake culture in the strip between the UP of Michigan, Wisconsin, and all of Minnesota. You could probably expect to be on the water from April through October, and IN the water from Memorial Day through Sept 30.
By flying into either Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or perhaps Chicago (lakes will be pricier), you could be within 2 hours of hundreds of fun lakes with a mix of lake homes that have been in the family for generations, and others who are being lived in by semi-retired or retired folks.
However, I get the sense you are looking for something further south. If you would consider these areas, I'm sure others could provide more info.

The other great things about the north central lakes (WI, MN) is the water quality. These are real lakes - not man-made resevoirs. As such, the water quality is much better. In fact, some are spring-fed which makes the water completely pristine.
