The Edgewater was recently remodeled, but it's not in the center. Check out the AAA book for Washington which shows locations. We have loads of good restaurants: Two good ones for seafood are Occeanaire (downtown) and Waterfront (not far from the Edgewater). Loads of steakhouses. Skip overrated Metropolitan Grill.

Have stayed at the Edgewater many times over the last 20 years. They have really improved the rooms..some have gas fireplaces.
Main reason we stay there is for the view of the bay..
It is getting a little expensive for us, last Feb. $ 150 per night (during the week)and this was the "half-price sale" Seattle hotels have from Jan. to end of March.
Summer rates are $200 plus..
I don't care for the "new" restaurant in the hotel...too trendy for us..
We often got sandwiches at a Deli about a block from the hotel and ate enjoying the view..
You will love it....

Turn right at the street and walk about five minutes to Pier 66 - the Bell Street Diner (downstairs) and Anthony's Pier 66 (upstairs) are both excellent. A little farther down, then turn left and up the hill is the Pike Street Market, with umpteen restaurant/cafe/walkaway choices.

The Edgewater is a landmark noted more for its location than anything else, but what a location.

Stayed at the Edgewater This week. Great view and nice hotel. Very small, but nice rooms. Had a fireplace. Sort of a hunting lodge (on water) type feel. I wouldn't stay there for a long period of time (over 2 nights) because of the size. But as a walk in,I got a $129 price at a great location.

We have stayed at the Edgewater twice and loved it both times. The views are fabulous, the staff are friendly and our rooms were nice. A little pricey, but one of the most unique places I have stayed. And when you add in all of that Rock and Roll history! Zepplin stayed there, the Beatles. Lots of stories about wild times at the Edgewater!

You might want to find a place with a better location. If it's not too expensive, look at Inn at the Market. I've also heard good things about the Inn at Harbor Steps. A lot of good restaurants, depending on taste, location, and $$$> Look at the Zagat web site - they give good and impartial coverage.
