Seeking ideas on where to go

My husband and I are looking to go away for a week this month, but can't decide where. We live in south Jersey and are possibly considering an outdoorsy type vacation such as the poconos. Does anyone have any ideas, or recommend places to stay? Oh, and unfortunately, we're on a budget.

What kind of budget? Motel 6 budget? Holiday Inn budget? Marriott budget? Well, you get the idea.

Will you be driving or are you open to flying?

We have a holiday inn budget (although would prefer not to stay at one), and would be open to flying.

Why not go down to the Outerbanks off of North Carolina say to perhaps Ocracoke.

Upstate New York and Vermont have some great areas. Plenty of hiking, biking, water activity.

You can hike part of the Appalachian trail, hit the baseball Hall of Fame, Lake George. Some towns like Skaneateles and Cazenovia are nice for an overnight stay.

One more thought, Canada. The strength of the U.S. dollar should be a nice benefit on the budget. There are some great outdoor places in Quebec and both Quebec City and Montreal are nice.
