Sedona doesn't allow nightly vacation rentals?

It's quite possible that they have regulations preventing private residences from nightly rentals. I've heard of this regulation in other areas like some beach towns. The purpose would be to keep residential areas residential (quiet, neat, etc). Overnight guests may have a lot less respect for noise, clutter, upkeep, trash or other things than somebody staying a week or a month, or more importantly those that live there.

There are oodles of hotels and condo properties in Sedona offering shorter stays.

Many resort towns limit vacation rentals. Key West comes to mind as they also went through a deal with this.

I'm guessing this is a house, as others have suggested? There are tons of hotels and timeshares (we just finished a 6-night stay in a timeshare) that you can rent for the night. Here in Florida we have similar regulations concerning private home rentals in many areas.

Wow, am surprised to read this as we've visited Sedona several times over the last few years, staying for less than a week each time in private vacation homes. However, I did some digging online and it seems to be true; a ban on short term rentals has been in effect since the 90s, just not strictly enforced until recently.

That being said, I still found many nightly rentals available on some of my favorite vacation rental sites, so I guess some homeowners are willing to risk it!

Wherever you decide to stay, can highly recommend Sedona. It's absolutely beautiful and we've always had a good time there.
