Sedona to Las Vegas

Approximately how long does it take to travel from Sedona to Las Vegas? How are the roads? Is there anything to see along the way or is it just a pretty boring drive? How much extra time do we need to allow if we stop at Hoover Dam along the way?

Sedona to Flagstaff on 89A, I-40 west to Kingman, 93 via Hoover Dam to LV. Takes about 7 hours. Add an hour or 90 min. for dam tour. Roads in excellent shape. Quite scenic; nothing spectacular. Careful on 93. It's straight, leading to careless driving. Make sure you gas up before leaving Kingman for LV.

We are thinking of doing the same drive. Mapquest says a little under 6 hours. So, is that unrealistically short?

If I remember correctly, it was more like 5 hours. Arizona is one of the most geologically interesting places around and surprisingly, the interstate route still retains much of that.

about 6 hours...the roads are fine, but the back road from Sedona(not the interstate)is winding..you don`t have to go to Flagtaff..and the scenery is bland..allow at least 1 to 2 hours at the Hoover Dam..
