Sedona Must See's?
My boyfriend and I are going to be in Sedona for 3 full days in June, then going to the Grand Canyon. What are some things we "must" see or do in Sedona itself? We like walking, not hiking, but walking and shopping, good restaurants and relaxation.

I was just there a couple of days ago and love having lunch at the Enchantment Resort is a must..
Food, View and Service is outstanding!
I love going to the vortexes and walking through Boynton Canyon..
There is plenty of shopping and love to go to a spa while I am there..

Jeep tours, helicopter and balloon rides are very popular but can be a little pricey but well worth it! Visit the Chapel, hike at Midgley Bridge down to the creek, have lunch at the airport (watch the helicopters and small planes land and take-off), have lunch at Enchantment Resort - must call for reservations-casual but absolutely breathtaking, dinner is pricey and less casual.

As soon as you arrive in Sedona, pick up the Sedona Driving Tour CD. I was just there and bought one for $20 at a Circle K gas and conveniance store. They also have them at the Chamber of Commerce visitor centers. You could order it on line ahead of time too. Just Google the title and you will find it.
It has tracks for all of the areas with directions and narration, music to go with each area. It includes Vortex sites, Bell Rock Cathedral Rock Chapel of the Holy Cross, Schnebly Hill Road, airport Mesa, Boynton Canyon, Upper Red Rock Loop, Red Rock Crossing, Uptown, Oak Creek Canyon. We really enjoyed using it and you can do it in any order and choose which areas since each one is on a separate track.
You will be able to to the Oak Creek Canyon portion of the CD on your way to the Grand Canyon.
We enjoyed eating at the Wildflower Bread Company at the Hyatt Plaza every morning for breakfast. We at dinner at a restaurant in that same complex, called Bella Terra, I think. Nice red rock views from both and they also have some really nice shops and galleries there. It is right at the junction of 179 and 89A.
We also ate dinner at Dahl and Dilucca''s Italian Restaurant which is on 89A away from the uptown area. They have another restaurant near the Hilton in Oak Creek Village area I think. It was a lot of fun, good food, and live music during dinner.
Lots of people go to Airport Mesa for sunsets. Another nice plaza with restaurants and art galleries is Hillside. And of course the big one is Telaquepaque. The only downside to the shopping areas is that they seemed to all close down by 5 or 6.

We stayed at Sky Ranch Lodge on our last trip and really enjoyed it. I hope you got a rim view room. My trip report, from last September, has a picture taken from our room.

Getting around from there will be easy, but you do have a kind of steep, winding road getting up to Sky Ranch and back down. We are going back to Sedona in April and will be staying there again.

There are several nice sets of Indian ruins in Sedona. Some are only visible on hikes, but there are two sets that have park rangers and that can be walked up to easily. They are close to each other, out on 89A west. They are called Palatki and Honanki. Tuzigoot ruins in Cottonwood are very good also.
I'd suggest the Verde Canyon rail trip (which is wonderful) but since you are going to the GC you will get a canyon there. You might like the Verde Canyon rail trip anyway though, it takes an afternoon. Tuzigoot is on the way there, close to the rail station.
Also, has anyone mentioned Slide Rock? In June, it is a fun place to get wet (it will be hot) and have fun.

I thought of something else. If you like to walk but not hike, try visiting Red Rock State Park on Hwy 89A in west Sedona. Paved trails, lovely park, nice volunteer rangers that lead the walsk and hikes too.
