Sedona Lodging

Going to spend a couple nights in Sedona> Narrowed stay down to L'auberge, Sky Ranch Lodge or one of the Best Westerns. Any comparisons? I would like a nice place with a good view.

If you're considering L'Auberge please realize that the cabins are the 'charming' accommodations which give the place its reputation, and that there's no view from the cabins. The hotel is very unexciting. <BR>Why not Enchantment? Best views in Sedona. A bit off the beaten path, though.

Here's another enthusiastic vote for Enchantment.

We went to Sedona a month ago. We too would have liked to stay in Enchantment, however we need 2 rooms (with 3 kids) and the price was out of our range. We opted for the Best Western Inn at Sedona and couldn't have been any happier. It was high season and $99 per room per night which includes a nice expanded continental breakfast (juice, coffee, hot cocoa, donuts, pastries, cereals, fruit and fruit cocktail). It's one street off the main thoroughfare and the other Best Western is right on the thoroughfare. If you do stay there, BE SURE to request 2nd or 3rd floor facing the red rocks. It has some rooms that face the other direction. Amazing views!

We just got back from Sedona two weeks ago. We loved the Briar Patch which is just down the creek from L'Auberge. Neither the Briar Patch nor L'Auberge has a view. They are by the creek shaded by oak trees. Always cool. But L'Auberge is very expensive and we didn't think it was worth it. We had dinner at the Terrace restaurant at L'Auberge which was romantic and outdoors by the creek. At the Briar Patch, it is warm and friendly and there are tables and chairs along and above the creek. We were so enchanted that we returned every day for a picnic lunch. And, we never once saw anyone else in the daytime even though the place was full. If you're out all day admiring the view and hiking, you won't miss having no views at the Briar Patch. It's a change of pace to be with the creek and the trees after hot walks in Sedona. By the way, try the Wilson Canyon hike and the West Fork hike. They were both fabulous. We also hiked by the Enchantment and it looked too upscale and expensive for my tastes. Also, it was further away from the town.
