Sedona in the rain!

The forecast for Sedona on the 2 days that we have (non-refundable) reservations calls for rain next week. We had planned on doing a sunset Jeep tour, but since there won't be any sun....Any ideas on what to do with 2 kids (10 and 13) in the rain?

I didn't think it rained much in AZ!

Well, it doesn't rain MUCH, but it does rain--what bad luck, that it should do so while you're there. (Of course, the weather forecast is quite likely to change between now and then, the weather in that area is hard to predict.)I can't think of any great indoor activities offhand, but I'll keep trying--there's always shopping, of course, though your kids might not be thrilled with that.

Thanks E. It is also forecasting rain for one day that we are in the Grand Canyon, and one day that we are in Phoenix! That makes 4 out of 7 days forecasting rain.

My husband was in Phoenix a few years ago in November and drove to the GC to see it. He had planned to stay over night but was thwarted when a blizzard came in! At this rate he may never get to hike into the Canyon.

nina: this has nothing to do with the weather (sorry)- but would you please post your trip when you return? I'm toying with the idea of Sedona/G.C. soon.
Thanks!

What days will you be there Nina? I was just looking at weatherunderground.com for that area and it showed only a chance of rain for Monday, Tues and Wednesday.

We just got back from our son's wedding in TX. I'd started following the weather a week out and rain had been in the forecast for Saturday so I was concerned, even to the point of packing a raincoat to keep from destroying my dress. The weather was beautiful. There was heavy rain for about 2 hours Friday morning then it cleared up and was nice. No point worrying about it 'til you are closer to the date...and even then it's just as likely to change as not!

Have a great trip. Pack a raincoat--that act alone will ensure that it will not rain even a drop. :>

Thanks Olive, I'm counting on weather.com's usual innaccuracy. I'm definitely packing raincoats, and an umbrella for added voodoo power on the weather gods!

I would be surprised if you had 2 full days of rain in April. You may just have a shower or two. AZ has had more rain than normal this winter and spring. (Still in a drought though) Weather.com is awful at prediciting the weather in AZ. Try azcentral.com for a local weather forcast.

I thought of one little thing: there's a very cool mining museum in Flagstaff, and another museum there specializing in AZ history. The mining museum doesn't sound fun, but it is, esp. for kids.
