Sedona--If money were no object
For those of you familiar with Sedona, if you were planning a totally pampered, money-is-no-object trip to Sedona--what would it include?

I would probably stay at Enchantment Resort. The resort has rave reviews from all over the country. Having said that, let me say that money is always a consideration with this wanna be queen. I like nice places but don't have to go top of the line. The bottom line is I have never stayed at Enchantment. I did check it out for a friend of mine from England who is going on an astronomy/geology planned tour this fall.
Last time I was in Sedona I stayed at a time share. If I were paying out of pocket I would go back to Sky Lodge. It is located at the top of a bluff on airport road. Sedona is a gorgeous place but I hate the traffic and all the 'up-scale' shopping. Sky Ranch is off the beaten path, out of the traffic, and very close to THE place to view the nightly sunsets. You can sit in your view room, gaze out at the red rock bluffs, and come in and warm up by the gas fireplace. I take pictures rather than shop so I suppose it all depends on what you want to do. Sky Ranch is not a 4 star hotel but then again, that isn't my cup of tea to start with. I want to be able to grab a camera and take pictures of jackrabbits in the courtyard. If I wanted to shop, I would trek over to Gallup, New Mexico and spend every last dime I owned on Indian jewelry. To me, that is divine decadence. |

Ditto the recommendation from afeldman ... perfect!

Creekside Cabin at L'Auberge.
In-cabin massage at L'Auberge. Room service breakfast on your patio overlooking "Snoopy Rock" and Oak Creek. Shopping at Tlaquepaque. Dinner at the Silver Saddle Room at the Cowboy Club one night. Horseback ride through the red rocks followed by a Cowboy Barbecue. |
Boy, L'Auberge sure gets lots of votes! Has anybody here stayed at the new Adobe Grand Villas? Taken a helicopter ride? I love the head-to-Gallup and buy Indian jewelry response, but might as well head to Santa Fe for Indian market in August, hmm?
