Sedona Hotels
 

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has stayed at either the Desert Quail Inn or the Sedona Motel. I am looking for anything around $100, but safe and clean.

I've stayed at the Desert Quail and would happily stay there again. The room was large and had a small fidge with fresh fruit in it. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

I like the location just a couple of miles South of Sedona but only about a 1/4 mile south of Bell Rock and also close to Cathedral Rock. There is a bike shop just north of the inn to rent bikes and you can bike right from the hotel to Bell Rock and around Cathedral Rock which was an absolute blast.

There is a grocery store directly behind the inn so you can stock up on cereal, milk, yogurt, and sandwich stuff easily.

I'm not into outlet shopping on vacation but there is a small outlet mall just across the street.

Desert Quail used to be a GREAT bargain with very low prices but they've come more in line with others in the area this year. Still, I'd chose it again.

I am surprised you can get DQ for $100; it must be in the summer. Like amwosu, i used to pay $59 there, but they shot up in the past year.

I recently looked at some hotels in west Sedona for about $100, like Sedona Real, and there is also a Hampton Inn in West Sedona. West Sedona (89A West) is also a nice and quieter location, close proximity to great views and hiking, but close to shopping and a more "neighborhood" feel. Also try the Sky Ranch Lodge; you can get garden view rooms there for around $100.

All of Sedona is safe (realtively speaking), IMO. There are no "seedy areas", although uptown is very touristy w/lots of tour buses and I avoid it completely except for some of the galleries on 179A close to the Y intersection (Hillside, Tlapapaque, etc.)

There are also a couple of lower priced inns and small hotels in the Village of Oak Creek (where DQ is, 5 miles before Sedona proper, at the start of the red rocks). Do an online search for hotels in Village of Oak Creek and you'll find them.

The one I was closest to booking recently was King's Ransom, btwn Village of Oak Creek and Sedona. It was renovated last spring/summer and looked really nice and reasonable. nn.

There is also a La Quinta on rt. 179 that is about $100, gets good reviews.

Check out the Sky Ranch Lodge. it's up on a hill with great views.

That's great! Lucky you. I just got back from Japan w/my daughter (2 wks). Going to the corridor of Baja at end of May, and am thinking of stopping in Phoenix (Sheraton Wild Horse Pass) or Sedona for a few days on the way there.
