Sedona Hotel
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Sedona for a few days in March? My husband and I will be traveling w/ our parents (in their 60s and early 70s) who would prefer a place w/ all the amenities, centrally located, but not more than $200 a night. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dear Kiki,
The Los Arbrigados Hotel is right next door to Tlaquepaque shops and restaurants. L'Auberge de Sedona is centrally located and has cottages on the creek or if you prefer, the Lodge. These are not within walking distances to the main street of shopping/galleries, etc., but very close by car. Francie |
do a search for "Hyatt Pinon" on here adn you'll see that someone got a $165 rate for an apartment type deal at Hyatt Pinon Pointe for March. Great location at the "Y". Good reviews on tripadvisor. Many fodorites have stayed there sicne it opened in Nov. 03

We stayed in the Penrose B&B in Oak Creek. Very nice with good breakfasts and well located for the mesas and buttes. It's about 10 miles south of Sedona itself but is very quiet and we reckoned that as you have to drive to restaurants anyway a bit of a longer trip for dinner wouldn't kill us.

All this talk has got me missing Sedona- I just booked two nights at Desert Quail to tack onto a business trip to Phoenix in Feb. I wasn't goign to do that on this trip, but I can't stand it, the hiking is calling out to me.
Desert Quail is not the place for kiki1 as it is not centrally located, it is in Oak Creek Village, but it is by far the best deal for the nicest rooms at their price range in the Sedona area. |
We stayed in the CANYON VILLA bed & breakfast. It feels more like a hotel than a B&B and it is over-the-top gorgeous! It is about an 8 minute drive into the center of Sedona and the drive is so scenic you will be happy every time you make it. They have a website where you can check it out.

The Sky Ranch sits on top of a mesa in the center of Sedona, up above the trucks and other traffic, with 60-mile vistas. Some units have kitchenettes. Ones looking to the north over the town are especially nice. Check their web site for prices, availabilities.

I checked put The Skyline Ranch hotel. Sounds great, with beautiful views, but I didn't find much info on it's location (are there restaurants, shops nearby?) and what else is surrounding it besides great views. I will have 2 sets of inlaws with me, so I don't want a hotel that is far from "things to do". Far meaning not within walking distance or short shuttle ride. Any suggestions? I will look into the other hotels mentioned on this thread. Thanks.

I found the Best Western Arroyo Roble Hotel in Sedona. Sounds like it is well located. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? Good or bad? Thank you!
|
I highly recommend the Best Western Arroyo Roble. It's been 3 or 4 years since I stayed there but it was very nice...stayed in a suite not far from the river that runs behind it. It's a great location. Have a great time; Sedona is one of my favorite places to visit---hiking, mountain biking, just soaking up the scenery, and some decent restaurants.
|
P.S. It seems to me that I remember the Best Western is situated a little bit below the street level, so there was a short walk uphill to get to the "main drag" in Sedona. I just mention it because you mentioned your parents being with you.

kiki1: There used to be a regular poster around here named chicgal who stayed at the Best Western Arroyo Roble every September. She stayed in an separate unit in the back of the hotel, like a cottage-type deal. I think it has 2 bedrooms. She used to rave about the great view from this particular unit and how nice the unit was, so check that out if you are still looking at that place. She booked it way ahead and I think she paid like $169 if my memory is correct.

The Best Western you're referring to is right in the center of "town".
|
Thank you for all of your help. I'm booking the Best Western today. Got a rate of $145. Not too bad.

I think you will really enjoy the Best Western. In January I stayed in one of the time -shares directly behind it. My 83 year old Mom was with me. She had no trouble with the hill mentioned above...but, then she still hikes and kayaks. We especially appreciated that it was close to everything but still very quiet. Have a great trip!
