Sedona Hotel

Please let me have your recommendations for a one-night stay in Sedona (we're stopping there on our vacation travels between Grand Canyon and Phoenix). We're looking for a clean hotel with a great view in the $150 - $200 range (2 adults, one child). I booked a 3rd floor room at the Orchards Inn at Sedona, but read terrible reviews on tripadviser.com about the hotel, especially dirty carpets and lack of parking. I love Sedona, consider it to be a magical place, and am looking forward to seeing it again. I don't want to make a mistake in choosing a bad hotel. Thanks very much.

Years ago we stayed at the Sky Ranch Lodge. It's nothing fancy but has great views and was very comfortable.

I know you'll find lots more recommendations for Sky Ranch lodge if you search. We stayed there last October. The rooms are very plain, kind of 50's motelish. But they are clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, and the view rooms have a view which can't be beat.

Here's a shot of sunset from our deck:

Last year I stayed at Best Western Inn of Sedona. It's in your price range and includes breakfast.

I couldn't recommend it more.

It's right at the "Y" directly across the highway from the airport road.

The place has recently been renovated and has the look and feel of a new place.

As you leave the main road you drive about 100 yards up a road to the main entrance. You're away from the noise of the main road.

By driving up to the main entrance, it's the 3rd floor that's really the main floor. There are two floors beneath.

It you ask for a room on the main level facing Chimney Rock, you have two doors. One door opens into the parking lot while the other door opens to a large patio with tables and chairs that's excellent for relaxing.

A spectacular view of Chimney Rock from the patio.

I had the same experience as Myer. There are two Best Westerns in Sedona--I stayed at the BW Arroyo Roble. Nice rooms, great views, excellent pool, good breakfast.

You may want to look into the Briar Patch Inn, which is right on Oak Creek. Not so much on views since it is way down in the valley, but a grand slam on setting and atmosphere. You stay in log cabins, all seem to be different, and have breakfast on the terrace by the rushing waters. My husband and I have wanted to return ever since we stayed there 5 years ago.

This is a follow-up to my previous post about my excellent experience at the Best Western Inn of Sedonna.

Rooms #318 to 336 all have the same type of layout. All on the main level. One door leads to the parking lot and the other onto a very large patio with tables and chairs facing the Red Rocks.

Two photos I took from the patio.

The views from Sky Ranch are wonderful Just ask for a unit with a view. They also have a pool and quite lovely gardens. I especially appreciated being up on the hill away from all the madness.

Our unit had a small efficiency, which would come in handy since you have a child with you, for snacks, etc.
