Sedona horseback riding & restaurnts

Planning a trip to Sedona in June. Any recommendations for which company to go with for a 2 hour horseback ride? Also looking for modestly priced mexican, italian restaurant recommendations. Nothing fancy just good food at good prices.

There is a company that offers "A Day in the West" that includes horseback riding, a jeep tour and a cook out. You might want to check it out after you get there.

For Mexican many people enjoy Javalina Cantina, but I have not personally been there. My favorite restaurant was Shugrue's Hillside Cafe (medium prices to slightly expensive American/California cuisine).

A Day in the West left me hanging out to dry last April. We had made reservations several days ahead of time from Scottsdale for a two hr ride, and at the last minute the day we were supposed to go, they called us where we were staying in Sedona and said they didn't have room for us to go! Luckily we were able to get in that day w/another outfit called something like Trailride Adventures. They were great- out by Red Rock State Park in West Sedona, nice ride, good guides, fun trail (some up and down, nothing too advanced but more fun than a flat trail), and we had a good steak dinner on their outdoor pavillion afterwards. OUr kids (11 and 13) loved it and so did I, would go w/them again.
Several recent posts in th elast two wks on Sedona dining, Mexican etc- do a search

We just returned from Sedona on Sunday and went to Javelina Cantina upon the recommendation of other Fodorites. We were very disappointed with the snooty service and the overrated and overpriced food. I ordered the steak/chicken fajita combo which was horrible and ended up being billed at $22.95, another ordered the salmon tostada for $15.95 which was okay, another ordered chicken tacos for $12.95, and then the other ordered fish tacos for which I can't remember the price but they seemed to be the only impressive item at our table. The margaritas were around $8 and not the greatest. For 4 dinners and 2 drinks, our bill came to $95+tax. I'd recommend trying some other place for Mexican food. I've heard that Oaxaca or something of that sort is horrible but there's supposed to be a place called El Rincon and it's sister restaurant Casa Rincon that are good. Overall, we were very disappointed with the food throughout all of Sedona so don't waste your money on it...in this case, more expensive does not mean better tasting or better service. Just enjoy the outdoors and activities and pack yourself a picnic lunch! It's beautiful there!!!

You will enjoy horse back riding at the M Diamond Ranch www.sedonahorsebackrides.com They also offer Cowboy Cookouts. Great reviews on Trip Advisor

Javalina Cantina has very mediocre food. We ate there once several years ago and would not ever go back.

The best Mexicn resturant I found in that area was not in Sedona, it was in Clarkdale. It is Su Casa and it is very good.

For moderately priced Italian food, try the Hideaway:

But our favorite Italian restaurant is Dahl & DiLuca. But that can get expensive if you have wine and dessert.

Cowboy Club is also one of our don't-miss restaurants when we visit Sedona, and we also enjoy Shugrue's Hillside.

I agree with the comments about Javelina Cantina. We were not impressed and there seemed to be more emphasis placed on quantity rather than quality. I would not go back. Conversely, Picazzo’s Pizza was surprisingly good and the pizzas exceptionally creative and tasty. http://www.picazzos.com/
