Sedona: Enchantment Resort or Otherwise?
My mom and I will be in Sedona for a long weekend at the end of February. We're landing at PHX on Thursday morning, have all day Friday and Saturday [most of which we want to spend hiking] then head home Sunday.
In searching for lodging, it seems many are high on the Enchantment Resort so I'm seeking feedback given the price tag. It caught my attention because Mom wants to "wake up every morning with coffee and red rocks" so it seems this is THE SPOT to make that happen given the canyon location. And we want a nice place to land for three nights. My hesitation is that following said coffee, we're out the door for exploring. We won't be participating in any 'complimentary' activities [i.e. yoga, tennis, Native American flute, gourd decoration, chanting ... what?!] rolled into the cost of this place outside of the 2.5 hour daily guided hikes [assuming they're good?]. And since the guided hikes are short and occur in the AM, we'll want more hiking in the afternoon so we'll be setting off on own vs. hanging out at the resort [with the potential exception of some spa time]. All of this to ask ... are there other options [hotels, VRBO/Airbnb] or do we pay for Enchantment to get that red rock ambiance Mom is seeking? And while I'm in trip planning mode: favorite hikes and restaurants? Anything not to be missed? Is there an off-the-beaten path drive from PHX to Sedona? Many many thanks everyone! |
There is no single "the spot." The Red Agave Resort may be suitable

Enchantment is set among those red rocks and is beautiful. However, very near the resort are trails and parking, perhaps a state park. We stay there or with friends but there are many hotels in Sedona.
