Sedona - Don't miss

We will be spending a day in Sedona. We've never been there. What things should we make sure to see/do? We might do a balloon ride, but other than that we're open (except the jeep tour - bad back wouldn't do well on that, I imagine).

There is a railroad trip about 30 minutes away called the Canyon Verde Railroad. It is supposed to be awesome. Would probably take half of your day, though.

Drive up Schnebly Hill Road. This is the most scenic drive in the area. The best time is around sunset.

My daughter and I just spent four days there and WISH we had done a balloon ride in the early morning since it was so beautiful then! But instead we hiked and did some mountain biking and had a very nice two hour hoseback ride with Trail Horse Adventures at sunset.

I firmly agree with the suggestion to drive Schnebly Hill Road as the scenery is beautiful and the road is in much better shape than I suggested. We also enjoyed our hiking around Boynton Canyon and Airport Mesa, but it was SO unbelievably hot suring the day I wouldn't try it after 9 AM or so. Everyone told us it was unseasonably hot, but we could barely catch our breath in the middle of the day, it was so bad.

I would also skip shopping in Uptown as we spent a couple of hours there (it was within walking distance of our B&B)and I really considered it a waste.

We did the Pink Jeep Tour and loved it. It was fun and exciting. They offer several different tours and I believe their web site is pinkjeeptours.com. If not, you can do a search and find them and see if it looks like something you would enjoy.

The red rocks are amazing. Focus on that. Don't remember anything special otherwise.
