Sedona, AZ Lodging Options

A good friend of mine and I are looking to stay in Sedona in late May for 5 nights. It's daunting to try to narrow down the choices, but of utmost importance is having a private balcony with a beautful view. We would prefer accomodations that have separate beds, but a king is ok or one bed with a pull-out sofa is also fine. It would be nice if the place had a pool, but it's not a must. Price is variable depending on what the place had to offer and if there was real "value". I'd say we really would prefer not to spend more than $450/night.....and would really like lower than that if possible....that is the upper range. We really enjoy good food and wine, but I am guessing most places are relatively close to decent eateries.

Also, is there a better place to be Sedona versus any other? Are most places on or next to the "highway"? And if so, is it noisy? I guess, if we had to narrow it down, is there a preferred section of town to be in (in addition to our accomodation musts of balcony with view)? Thanks in advance....

The restaurant scene is pretty spread out. You might want to stay in uptown (northeast of the "Y" ). That would make a good central location. Try Best Western Arroyo Roble.

Walking distance to the Cowboy Club Silver Saddle Room. Great food!

Dahl & DiLuca, a wnoderful Italian restaurant is only about a mile away.

Take a look at Enchantment Resort which is a few miles outside Sedona, AZ. Auberge De Sedona is a fine place to stay in town also with outstanding dining.

Sky Ranch Lodge is a pretty basic motel, but, oh...the view! You have to ask for a rim view room. Our favorite was a Rim View cottage. The price was reasonable for what we got, including a view deck, porch swing, and a view to die for. You can see it on their website. They will work with you to provide the bedding configuration you want. You can walk to the Sedona Airport and have a decent meal in their restaurant or drive down the hill into town for other options. It's not that far.

We've stayed in some fancier places in Sedona, but the location and view of this place is wonderful.

Enchantment would be great if you wanted to stay at the resort most of the time. However, it is not close to anything else, and most certainly not close to any resturants other than their on-site resturants. It is 8 miles from uptown Sedona, which is 20 minutes mostly along country roads.

elnap29,

We also like Sky Ranch and have stayed there twice, preferring to do our splurging on meals. Particularly since we were hardly ever in the room except to sleep or to get ready go go out. But, as you say, the rooms are very basic. And the porches with those great views aren't really that private.

I know the airport cafe had closed down. Has it reopened?

I stayed at the Kings Ransom hotel last June. We really enjoyed this hotel and there were 3 of us that shared the two room suite. They have a pool, a nice view from the pool, free breakfast (most places probably have this) and it's not far from the main street. The free trolley stops a little way down about a 5 min walk. A room in May is going for about $80-$120 a night.

The Inn on Oak Creek Bed & Breakfast would fit your needs, I think! The inn is located right on Oak Creek with great views from many of the rooms and decks overlooking the creek, you could book the Homestead Hearts room for $245 per night, featuring a king size bed and creek and red rock view. THe rooms all include a four-course gournet breakfast each morning. If you want to book separate rooms, you could still be under $450 per night! Look at their website at www.innonoakcreek.com.

Thanks all. I think it looks like The Orchard's Inn fits the bill, and hopefully I'm making the right choice. We ultimately decided that for a vacation, we both deserved to have a good bed.....so that made having two beds a priority. (This ended up ruling out places like Sedona Rouge, and many other lovely B&Bs, because there are a lot of romantic king beds. Only some had pull out sofas and rollaways, and ultimately neither wanted to make the sacrifice of having the lesser bed. Not to mention some of those places are too pricey to have to sleep on a rollaway.) And some of the places were just too pricey....Enchantment. We liked the BW Arroyo and it seemed to have all that we wanted, but unfortunately there were too many negaitve comments about thin walls and noise from neighbors.

So if anyone has any knowledge of The Orchard's Inn or if there are any more suggestions, I do appreciate the help. Thanks....

Another vote for Sedona Rouge. If you are ruling it out because of king beds, don't. A friend and I stayed there and our room had 2 beds. It's a lovely hotel, with a very good restaurnat, and within walking distance of a terrific Italian restaurant (unfortunately I cant remember the name of it)

orangetravelcat,

That terrific Italian restaurant would be my favorite, Dahl & DiLuca

Yes, Dahl & Diluca. That's it. Love it. Also like the "sister" restaurant Cucina Rustica (if I am remembering the name correctly). Both are excellent.
