Sedona and Grand Canyon Must-do's
We will be travelling to Sedona this month and plan to visit the Grand Canyon for a day. Does anyone have any opinions on things we should definetly see and do (in Sedona - all week or the Grand Canyon - one day) when we are there? Also, any restaurant recommendations?

I wouldn't miss going to the GC and not hiking down at least a portion of the Bright Angel trail. It'll give you a whole new perspective. You don't have to go far, but try to go down an hour or so.
I love hiking in Sedona too, (Boynton Canyon and Mt Wilson are 2 favorites) but the beauty is all around you there. Don't miss the Oak Creek Canyon drive, 89A from Sedona toward Flag, or reverse, Flag to Sedona. You can do that coming or going from the GC.

We just returned from spending a week in Sedona. We enjoyed eating at the Cowboy Club (the buffalo is wonderful), Wildflower Bakery in the shops above the visitor center, and Cucina Rustica in the Village of Oak Creek. We took a day trip to Jerome one day for lunch and shopping, a Pink Jeep tour one day that was great fun, and the rest of the time we hiked around town and took tons of pictures. Enjoy your trip!

Just returned from Grand Canyon and Sedona. Leave yourself some flexibility on that day trip to Grand Canyon and consider at least an overnight stop. Granted it was late March and a bit unusual weather according to the locals, but we awoke to snow, hail, fog and 40 mile an hour winds -- not the best canyon views that day-- and so stayed over a night longer (thankfully the hotel was not booked full that night like our first night) (we stayed in Tusayan one mile south of the park entrance because we found it impossible to secure in-park lodging -- booked months in advance.) Also a tip for you - consider purchasing your park auto pass (unless you already have a Golden Eagle or other yearly all-parks pass) at the National Geographic IMAX theater site in Tusayan (there's a park ranger on duty there and you pay no surcharge). Then you can use the "express lane" at the park entrance. The day we left the park, the traffic was backed up at least 1/2 mile from the entry gate, and that was a Thursday afternoon in March.

You didn't indicate if you were traveling with kids. If you are, in Sedona visit Slide Rock State Park. It's a natural waterslide which is great, my kids loved it. Also Chapel of the Holy Cross was awesome with a fantastic view of Sedona. There is Montezuma's Castle which was quite interesting. Driving from the GC to Sedona we found little "trading posts" along the way which had beautiful pottery and jewerly for sale.
