Sedona Accomadations

How does the Orchards at L'auberge compare with the Best Western Inn of Sedona or Sky Ranch Lodge? Is it worth the extra bucks?

Be fore anybody says anything, yes, I know that I did a lousy job of spelling accommodations. After looking at it, I couldn't believe my spelling. Sorry!

Bob

My husband and I stay at L'Auberge every time we go to Sedona. Been there four or five times. Don't know about Sky Ranch Lodge, but a Best Western is a Best Western and the same inside no matter where you go. On a rating of 1 to 5; I would rate L'Auberge a strong 4 or 5 and Best Western 1.

L"Auberge has two type of accomodations.
The regular hotel and individual cottages. The cottages are the only place we have stayed. The interior is beautifully decorated; has a fireplace, poster canopy beds, an okay bath, front porch complete with 2 chairs and flower boxes, and is very intimate. They have turn down service each evening. In order to get to the cottages, you walk along secluded pathways and it is very private. They have a four passenger incline that you operate at your leisure to get to the top of the hill where the pool, main lodge, and walkway to the shopping district is.

They also accept AAA discounts.

I don't think you can go wrong there.

Karen you're on the mark in your description of the cottages at L'Auberge, but your statement about Best Westerns is way off.
They are most definitely not alike from one city to the next.
BW's are as individual as the 50 states themselves. They're not like Courtyards or Fairfields which are cookie cutter designs.
The BW Sedona is one of the better BW's, but not anywhere near as nice as the cottages at L'A.

We always stay at The Orchards which is part of L'Auberge. The reasons we like The Orchards over L'Auberge are price and the views afforded from being in a higher location. The rooms are comparable in furnishings, but the views are outstanding. Many restaurants, jeep tours and shops within easy walking distance.

I think the L'Auberge is overpriced. Just up the creek, we stayed at the Briar Patch Inn and we LOVED it. Very reasonable too. You won't be disappointed and the afternoon picnics along the tables at the creek were cool and wonderful.

Never stayed at the Briar Patch but some friends go every year and love it. It is just beyond the town of Sedona as you enter Oak Creek Canyon. IMO it is a much nicer setting and if it is as nice as described-which i believe it is- it appears to be a better value.

We stayed at the Orchards at L'Auberge several years ago and were disppointed.

THe cottages looked fabulous...but we went for the view and price...big mistake. Although the view is nice,,,theh units look like old motel units ( but with new furnishings)..as if L'Auberge bought it and just added it on. Unless they have sunk a lot of money into modernizing the motel units....the cottages looked much more romantic and elegant,,set among trees along along a stream.

Its worth the extra money for the cottages...as an alternative,,have you considered the Enchantment Resort?

Considered the Orchards at L'Auberge but for the same price for a single room there, we opted for a king cottage at Sky Range Lodge. Had a living room/dining area, kitchenette and a back deck with swingset overlooking the gorgeous red rocks and the town - a joy at sunset. (The lodge is on a mesa.) The grounds are lovely too. Would highly recommend Sky Ranch.

I was in Sedona last week and had a very bad experience with L'Auberege and a very good one with Enchantment. I actually did a post on L'Auberge yesterday if you are interested.
