Sedona - 4 nights - too much?

Hi
My husband and I are planning to stay at Enchantment Resort in Sedona for 4 nights/5 days - is this too much time in sedona? If so, suggestions for day trips are welcome.

Thanks!

Just a matter of preference, but that would be too long for me. The most obvious trip from there is to the Grand Canyon.

Also, several tour companies run one-day slow-water rafting trips near the GC. That can be fun and interesting if you're not a whitewater fan.

no i don't think it's too much. if you get bored you could drive to flagstaff and take the day train to the grand canyon.
there's also a cute mining ghost town (starts with a j) close by you can go visit.

I don't think that 4 days will be too much - we're there for only 2 nights, next month - and I don't know how to squeeze everything in! Mind you, I've never been there before, so I could be disappointed (though I doubt it). We will be moving on to the GC, so no need of a daytrip for us ... but what else is there? Let's think.
Well, Sedona itself ... red rock crossing .. oak creek canyon ... Tlaquepaque (http://www.tlaq.com/) for shopping ... there's a place, close by, at Cottonwood, where you can enjoy a fun cowboy cook-in (http://www.blazinm.com/) .. and there's horse-riding .... and the pink jeeps ... and on and on.
And if you fancy a trip or two out of Sedona, depending on your interests, how about Meteor Crater (http://www.meteorcrater.com/) or Sunset Crater (http://www.meteorcrater.com/) or the Lowell Observatory (http://www.lowell.edu/)??

Just a few thoughts .. hope you have a great time!

Don't miss the Broken Arrow Pink Jeep Tour. Simply awesome.
We found Red Rock and Slide Rock State Parks to be very crowded, so we drove up the creek, parked at a wide place, hiked(walked) down the hill and then up the creek a ways. Wonderful. No one else there but a family fishing.

The ghost town that ltt referred to is Jerome. Maybe 10 minutes outside of Sedona. Fun to do for half a day with a quick lunch at the Haunted Hamburger. (Food just OK but drop dead views.)

In addition to a Pink Jeep tour (a definite must-do) and a day trip to Grand Canyon, you might also consider a short trip to Montezuma's Castle and Well.

Four days in Sedona itself would be too long for me, but as others have mentioned, there are plenty of side trips available.

We stayed in Sedona for 3 nights last October at The Enchantment, and we could have definitely stayed one more night ... I think that 4 nights would have been perfect, especially if you are into outdoor activites. If you are into just visiting the shops in town and driving around a bit, then it may be too much. There are lots of great hiking opportunities in the area; they will have more specific information and hiking maps at The Enchantment. One day, we did a really easy hike out to a place where there was a beautiful view of Cathedral Rock reflecting in the creek. Another day we did a bit more difficult hike up to the top of one of the mesas. You can also rent bikes from the Enchantment. We did the Pink Jeep Broken Arrow Tour one day ... loads of fun! We went to the Chapel that's built into the rocks early one morning ... very tranquil and spiritual. If we had another day we would have taken a drive to Jerome. We also went up to the airport mesa (by the Sky Ranch Lodge) to watch the sunset. One day we went for breakfast at the airport diner; it was pretty cool watching some of the locals fly their small planes in.

Not sure if you are heading up to the Grand Canyon. If not, be sure to take the drive up Oak Creek Canyon on the way to Flagstaff (and stop at the overlook) for another day trip. There are some great roadside jewelry stands at the overlook ... much cheaper than the stuff they sell in the shops in Sedona. (If you are going to the GC, then you can take this route on the way there.)

There is also hot air balloon rides and plane rides ... we didn't do this, but it looked like fun.

Plus, the setting at Enchantment is so beautiful, you'll probably want to spend a little time at their pool. They also have a nice spa. When we were there, one night they had someone there with a large telescope for "stargazing" ... very cool.

Then, there's always all the shopping. We liked the more artsy stuff. We heard that the local art museum/gallery was very nice, but we didn't have a chance to do that.

Have fun ... we loved Sedona and want to return again for another visit.

You could spend a night in Flagstaff and then go to the Petrified Forest.

I wonder if that was the same man that came with his telescope to the Enchantment resort for "stargazing" (which was really cool). I recall that he lives in the Flagstaff area.

The astronomer you all are talking about is Dennis Young. His website is www.sedonastarlight.com
I can't even begin to imagine that 4 days is too much in Sedona. I spend a week to 2 weeks at a time in Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona at least once and sometimes twice a year and never get bored. If you are a person who expects to be entertained constantly, you might get bored. But if you enjoy the outdoors and hiking or mountain biking, I can't imagine getting bored there, as it a great area for that, even for a casual hiker. And the shopping isn't bad either.
If you are inerested in stargazing, Lowell observatory (where Pluto was discovered) in Flag opens thier huge telescopes frequently to the public at night.
Personally, I see no charm in Jerome (and it is much further than 10 minutes away).
