I am looking for a non-touristy beach. Just want to relax and read. No kids. As few people as possible. No lodging necessary. Suggestions?

Yeah right. 1st post. No info on what coast, vicinity, nada. It's a big country out there, lots of coastline. Do you plan to just get in the car and drive wherever it is and sleep in your car?

I guess school is officially out for summer.

???

It cracks me up when people want a non-touristy beach. You are a tourist., wherever you go when you're not in your home. And people will be at the beach, unless you buy your own island.

They're all owned by megamillionaires.

Nantucket, MA. There are beaches where everyone goes but there are others where no one goes. My wife and I walked for an hour on the 4th of July once and met only one other couple.

I assume there are other places where similar beaches can be found because you have to walk or ride a bike because there is no parking. None of these beaches will have toilets, food, or other facilities.

Lots of beaches have secluded areas, you just have to walk a bit from the parking/access area; Kids aren't good for more than a few hundred yards in the sand.

Yep - give us more to go on. What part of the country? What kind of beach - swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, rocky coastline with small sandy coves...? Cool temps, hot temps?

There are plenty of secluded beaches around. I can think of several within an hour's drive from where I am sitting right now.

>>No lodging necessary<<

That would seem to indicate you are just taking a day trip -- otherwise you'd have to stay over someplace. So care to tell us what part of the country you are talking about????
