Sebago Island T'ing ?'s

Working on the nitty-gritty of our first trip to Key West, and have a few questions about this tour we've already booked.

Can't find info from websites, hope someone here's been recently and can share...

- do they provide continental breakfast on the boat? (just want to know so we can save some time, DH is not a morning person!)

- on other snorkelling tours we have booked in the area, they say they offer "shorty" wetsuits as the water is cooler in winter months (we'll be there late December). Does this tour offer them as well?

- the other snorkelling tour also mentioned prescription mask are available for the visually impaired. I had never considered how the mask was going to work with my glasses (I'm blind without them!). Does this tour offer these masks as well? If not, I might try to pick up a pair at Walmart when I'm down there.

Thx a mint for any insights.

Enjoy-la!

The menus are included on their web page, but I don't recall them ever priving wet suits or prescription masks of any kind. They can be contacted via email to be sure.

They have raised their prices both at the kiosk and on-line but...there is an ad in the Summer '06 copy of See Key West Magazine on page 30 - 31 which lists a price of $79.00 / person plus $5.00 off for booking a day in advance by either calling or in person. They have two kiosks at the Bight where you can book. If you bring a copy of this ad they will honor this price. The Magazine is available at the airport and all over Key West.

FWIW I go on this every trip to Key West.

Thx a mint for the replies No_name and Pjk. It answered my breakfast question!

As for the shorty and mask, I guess if not a problem for others I'll just go with the flow and not worry about it.

Pjk, thx for your specific recs - I've been lurking a lot (all?...LOL!) of the FL threads to pick up info and actually first heard of T'ing thru one of your postings. The Pennekamp snorkel tour, also one of your recs, is the one that mentioned the masks and shorty. Appreciate all your posts and its details, even when I'm not OP. (=

Enjoy-la!

The water will be a little chilly, even for some visitors coming from the north. If you might be one, don't let it ruin your time. Give them a call and ask about shorty suits. I bet they offer them or know of a place that you can rent them.

This site will give you an idea of the water temp for the time you are visiting.

One other thing I've found that can happen. The water can be a warm 75 degrees, for example, but the air temp, when you get back on the boat, is lower than 75 degrees. As soon as you are out of the water you begin to freeze.

When you pack for vacation take two additional things for a snorkel trip: 1) a nice cloth tote to stuff a few towels, T-shirt for snorkeling (to avoid burn on your back), etc. And 2)a hoodie or, like me, a denim shirt to use just in case.

If you do the Island T'ing, go on the first of two kayak trips. Trust me.

Thx again for the extra suggestions.

I took your advice No_name and e-mailed them with my questions, instead of worrying about being a wimp!

Pjk, I picked up your "kayak first" tip off another thread and realized right away after I read it, that was a good idea. I would have brought a cover up but never considered bringing something warmer so thx a mint for that!

I'm feeling pretty good about MY ducks right now! Enjoy-la!
