Seattle with 15 year old girl
My daughter and I will be spending 4 days in Seattle. Would appreciate any activities that would appeal to a sports fan (and non-shopper). We won't have a car. Would also like recommendations on restaurants; not too expensive and not fancy.
Thank you, Teener |
You don't say when you'll be here, but a couple possibilities to watch sports would be a Mariners game at Safeco Field, and/or a Seattle Storm game (WNBA) at Key Arena.

Would she enjoy something like renting a canoe or kayak on Lake Union or Lake Washington?
There are lots of fun restaurants and food stands within the Pike Place Market. You can just take a stroll and see what you like (crumpet shop, fish & chips, hot dogs, bakeries, etc.) The Athenian and The Lowell are two sit-down casual restaurant located inside the Market, both with views out the back over the water. They are both old-time diner kind of places with lots of local character. |
The aquarium is downtown and the IMAX film on Mt. St. Helens eruption is worthwhile. You could take a ferry out to one of the islands and back. With four days, you could even take the hydrofoil up to Victoria Island do Berches Gardens or the Museum there. All great attractions. If your hotel offers a day trip to Mt. Ranier, it's one of the most beautiful places anywere.

What about renting skates and doing Greenlake?
|
Go down to the waterfront and take the boat to Blake Island for the salmon bake and Indian dance exhibition?
|
Thanks for the suggestions. We will be there April 10-14 and are hoping to get tickets for the Mariners.

If the weather is accomodating, you might think of renting bikes and going around Alki in West Seattle or on the Burk Gilmann Trail near the UW or riding starting at Seward Park and going north along L. Washington.

I didn't notice you didn't have a car. There are places to rent bikes along the Burk Gilmann Trail. I can't spell it though. You can find it on the web, I would think.
