wow, sounds like theres much more to do in seattle than i had even realized.

the pike place market is definitely of interest to me.

i will take note of the recommendation of columbia tower over the space needle, since it provides a greater view and costs less.

so, it sounds like i will definitely need a passport on canadian soil.

as much as i would like to see some of the mountains and other natural wonders, id much rather see attractions that are within close proximity of each other, as to maximize my time. (vancouver is the sole exception)

You might want to consider a food tour of the Market. I just went on the Savor Seattle tour (you can find my report by searching on Savor Seattle) and think it would be of interest for a first-time visitor.

Scarlett - The Alibi Room is still around! I just went there last week for cocktails and a light dinner. :)

I still say the Space Needle's, well the *SPACE NEEDLE* and no other building top can take its place.

Amd I was in the third elevator ride up on opening day!!!!

You apparently don't know the history, htty, on this or other forums. And upbeat or not, if it's based on experiences that are 3+ years old, I'd question the relevance.

I know beachbum. ***kim*** has been sending people to the Edgewater since time immemorial, but I find that endearing.

She is very kind, and never picks a fight with anybody.

The Edgewater isn't where I would stay in Seattle, but it is a favorite of many, and I can't fault any of ***kim's*** restaurant suggestions (except maybe that Six Seven has become insanely expensive).

A trip to the top of the Space Needle is an iconic Seattle experience, but it is overpriced and the views from the Columbia Tower or the Smith Tower are more thrilling.

In my opinion, the Space Needle elevator is a $16 trip to nowhere except for those for whom the trip has been a life-long aspiration.

If I were choosing between nice and honest, I think I would go for the honest when it comes to asking advice on a Travel Forum..but that should be another thread..in the Lounge :)

Do they film any of Greys Anatomy in Seattle or is it all just location shots ?

I'm not a local, but would second the recommendation to go to the Smith Tower observation deck. We visited for the first time this summer and were not disappointed. And only $7.00 pp!

They film about as many shots in Seattle as &quot;Frasier&quot; did - i.e., not many. A few scenes have been filmed on some of the ferry routes, and some exterior shots have been made in Pioneer Square, but mainly it's stock footage of Seattle - aerial scenes etc.

There was a huge &quot;McDreamy&quot; alert a year ago or so, but by the time the groupies could react he was gone back to Hwood.

Many of the movies and TV shows purportedly set in Seattle are filmed in Vancouver, where union rules and the availability of inexpensive sound stage space, plus a large and skilled supply of support personnel - lighting, props, etc. - have made it cheaper. It's aggravating to see &quot;Seattle&quot; on the side of police cars and shops, when many recognizable Vancouver landmarks and street scenes are plainly visible.

This probably will be changing as the Loony has overtaken the GWB Peso in value.
