Seattle Trip
 

Hi Everyone:
This will be our 1st time to Seattle. we will be flying in from San Francisco. We are 40ish with parents in their 70's. Only for 4 days. Where would be the best place to stay? We love to eat seafood and the water. We would be touring the city and parents would like to relax at the hotel and watch the water and stroll around. We would like a 4 or 5 star hotel, and price is not an issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are going in August.

We just returned Sunday from 4 days in Seattle, having stayed at the Inn at the Market. We had a full water view room, and it was spectacular! 180 degree view of Elliott Bay, plus a view of Stewart Street and the Pike Market. We watched container ships, ferries, sailboats, parasailers, cruise ships and the like in the water, planes in the sky, and enjoyed people-watching in the market as well. Hundreds of dining options are a short walk away, plus the hotel's restauaurant is said to be quite good. The room itself was very nicely appointed. Lastly, the staff were unfafilingly personable and helpful. I recommend this hotel very highly. Their website is www.innatthemarket.com. Have a great trip!

Woops, I meant "unfailingly personable." And I forgot to mention that the view from the room included mountains as well.

The Inn at the Market is good; also the brand new Marriott on the central waterfront would be a good choice - close to the Pike Market, waterfront shopping and sightseeing, trolly at the door to the International District (Chinatown) via Pioneer Square, or a big waterfront park (Myrtle Edwards) in the other direction. Cruise terminal across the street, thus the hotel will have all age groups, probably tending to the mature end of the spectrum. Finally, the Edgewater Hotel is built on piling over the bay, a little further walk from the Pike Market, but still excellently located (if you get a water-view room, otherwise a crummy view of a parking lot and an elevated freeway).

If you like water, you would a lot of it in Seattle! You can have a nice view of Pudget Sound from Pike Place Market. You should also checkout Queen Ann hill thats close to downtown. There is a view point up there that offers postcard view of downtown Seattle, space needle, Pudget Sound and Mt. Ranier (on a clear day).

You could also hop on a ferry to Bainbridge island. It leaves from Seattle downtown. You dont have to disembark when you get to the island. The ride gives you nice views of downtown, Alkai beach and Queen Ann hill.

You should also check out Alkai beach and Lake Washington Blvd in Kirdland (between I-520 and Kirkland downtown). Both places have seafood restaurants and you can walk/stroll for miles along the water.
