Seattle to Victoria

Planning to fly into Seattle in mid June and go up to Victoria for a day or two before heading down to Portland. Would it be best to get a rental car immediately at the airport or is there a way to get to ferry/Victoria using public transportation and then get car when we return to Washington? I am of the impression that we wouldn't need it in Victoria to go to Buschart Gardens.
Thanks,
Arlene

This might be helpful to get to Port Angeles. http://www.olympicbuslines.com/
If you are coming into SeaTac you would not even have to go into the city of Seattle to get on the bus.

You might want to post on and check out the Canada forum. We were in Victoria last year but went over from Vancouver. Happy travels.

Best option is to take the walk on Victoria Clipper from Seattle waterfront. You will need a passport but not a car.

Take a cab from SEATAC or take SEATAC rail to downtown Seattle/w shorter cab ride to the waterfront. (Pioneer Square stop)

In Victoria there is a bus right in front of the Victoria Clipper dock to the B. Gardens.

We stayed at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Hotel which is a very short walk into Victoria center for dinner & sightseeing. (Fun to watch the float planes from Seattle.)

You could also take a float plane from Seattle Lake Union into Victoria but that is far more expensive and a little more challenging (but doable) to reach.

You won't need a car.

the light rail goes right from SeaTac to the center of Seattle. Couldn't be easier/cheaper. Then the ferry to Victoria.

Victoria is VERY walkable and has good bus service.

I stayed at Marketa's. Funky/charming/terrific food/walking distance from the ferry.
