Seattle - To do after dinner
Looking for ideas for something to do in Seattle after dinner. (5-7 of us)
We're having dinner Dec 17th at Anthony's 66, for my wifes 40th b-day. We'll have a limo for the evening and I was trying to think of something fun and/or interesting to do after dinner in that area of seattle. Maybe a drive somewhere where there's an especially good view, or maybe a walk thru Pike's place market (if it's open) or ??? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks. |
You ought to find a boat charter that will take you around lake union and lake washington at night. A lot of the houseboat and some of the house, including the Medina mansions, will have Christmas lights up.
Sorry I don't have a company to recommend, I've only done this with private boats. |
If you wanted to take a drive for a view you could head up to Queen Anne for the amazing view on Highland Drive at Kerry Park. Then maybe drive down the back of QA and stop in at Canlis for a cocktail, dessert and a view of the Christmas ships on Lake Union.
Or what about finding out if there is a good jazz or other show at Jazz Alley or the Triple Door? Pike Place Market closes at 6pm so that will be pretty dead but there is a good bar scene at Il Bistro there. |
I was going to suggest Jazz Alley too. You might check out seattleweekly.com to see what kinds of events may be going on then.

This is a tough one because the weather may not cooperate with a walk along the waterfront.
The Argosy dinner cruise is completely booked for 12/17. They do have a Christmas cruise, however, leaving from Kirkland at 7:00 p.m--returning at 9:25 p.m. The cost is $29.95 per. There are some good places to eat in Kirkland. The dessert idea is a good one, but I don't know which good restaurants are prepared to receive a group of seven blowing in unannounced for dessert. |
Is the Alibi Room still there, in the Pike Place area?
|
Scarlett, Yes Alibi Room is open, 85 Pike.
I second the suggestions of Il Bistro for their bar, boat ride on the lake, or one of the jazz clubs downtown. Pike Place Market itself is closed up at night. What about going up the Space Needle if the weather is clear (talk about a view!)? If you want a stroll around, then Pioneer Square Historic District would work. Will be nicely decorated for Christmas. Stop in to New Orleans restaurant or any of the other music venues along 1st. |
The last time I was at Il Bistro the noise level was insufferable and the service was slap-dash. Has it changed?
